Was thinking Zelensky and Vance were about to Greco-Roman wrestle for control of Ukraine's minerals.
Trump and JD got what they wanted. It was fascinating watching JD manipulate Trump to where things fell apart into a circus show.

Gotta stick it out…if you ever want people like Trump to not continue to “win”, that is. Someway, somehow, Democrats have to show they have a backbone and that their vision and plan for the country is better than what we’re seeing from Mump. They have a couple years to do that. The opportunity Trump, Musk, and others are going to give them will be historic.
But they’ve proven woefully incapable of capitalizing.
Literally nothing is better now like he promised it would be, most stuff is trending worse. But the democrats are falling for the bullshit yet again and focusing on the wrong things. Our leadership, on both sides, are so embarrassing right now.

My take is that Vance should have kept his mouth shut (but I understand his being upset) and Z would have been much better served to have just said something to the effect that he appreciated all the US has done to help his country and looked forward to listening to more of President Trumps ideas over lunch...
Evidently (and for good reason) Vance holds a grudge (from Z basically campaigning in PA for slow Joe) and has heard far too much coming from Z in regard to what He wanted..., with little appreciation for what's already been done for him.
Much like what happens here routinely, they started talking past each other with neither grasping what the other was actually saying..., at the point when Z began attempting to give Trump a history lesson on the conflict and warn we would eventually "feel" the force of Russia in the future... (none of which was technically wrong) then Trump became incensed, pointed out that without our $ and gear they'd have been cooked... (which was also accurate) at which point discussions were basically over...
Z is a wartime leader, he's no statesman (personally I admire that about the guy). Trump isn't much of a statesman either, he sees himself as an advocate for the U.S. (and personally that is exactly who I voted for)...
Unfortunately for Z, Trump does have the winning hand in this game... Trump sounds like he wants an immediate Cease Fire and work out from there... Z, understandably, just wants to keep killing Russians to make them pay for what they've done while gaining ground to have more to bargain with at the eventual peace talks...
Z doesn't seem to grasp that the US is the 8,000 pound gorilla 🦍 in this equation and pissing us off could result in his supply line being shut down to a trickle (to a large degree)...
I can see both sides of it... Z doesn't trust Putin for very good reasons and is continuing to push for more security concessions...
We don't seem to appreciate (like) his complete lack of awareness of his circumstances and his seemingly wanting to continue to renegotiate a deal right up to the point of signing it...

Those are the kind of comments a responsible leader would make in private. But not these two fvckheads. Trump and Vance ambushed, belittled and embarrassed this guy - - our ally - - on the world stage. Beyond disgraceful.

Trump (and Vance) could learn from that. To be sure, Zelensky should have lead with thank you but here we are.

The Vice President is supposed to keep his mouth shut and let the President and Zelenskyy exchange pleasantries for the press. After the press leaves they’re supposed to get down to business. This was an embarrassment. JD lied too when he said Zelenskyy hasn’t thanked the US. He has repeated, including during his speech to a joint session of Congress in December 2022:
"Thank you so much. Thank you so much for that. Thank you. It’s too much for me. All this for our great people. Thank you so much. Dear Americans, in all states, cities and communities, all those who value freedom and justice, who cherish it as strongly as we Ukrainians in our cities, in each and every family, I hope my words of respect and gratitude resonate in each American heart."
At least Trump is attempting to bring an end to the conflict... The Dims were more than happy with the status quo while sending Billions over there...
People will probably see this as a W for the Russians but in reality everyday they bleed on the battlefield is a Bad day for Putin...
If we wanted to be completely insensitive to the plight of the Ukrainian people it Might actually be in our best interest to just be cynical and stretch this out until Putin completely breaks his own Army and destroys his own economy... (and don't believe for a moment that that was Bidens strategy..., it seemed obvious that he had no strategy whatsoever)...
Trump is usually quite magnanimous when he is face to face with world leaders. Which makes today all the more shocking. He generally lives by.

The dems were more than happy to help Ukraine stand up to Russia you mean. Supporting a country against an invader does not equal being happy with the status quo.
Trump has not only sided with Russia but blamed Zelensky for starting the war (lie) and just blamed him for Trump failing at ended the war on day 1 as promised (not even able to do it month 1).

Vance did the same thing with Starmer in the Oval. Started going in on U.K. violations of free speech and tried have the last word by saying “we can discuss more over lunch”.
Starmer let it go. Zelensky did not. I agree I don’t see what is gained by Vance being provocative in these meetings.
All nice words, but MAGA and other sensible American's don't forget those who simply say what their chosen focus groups tell them, with their ONLY focus being retaining power and under the table $$$$$$$$$$$. The only Handily win that you speak of, will take honest conviction, not another typical, time proven, out of water fish flopping.
