Trump Zelensky today.....

Why in the hell do some of you act like the two options are let Ukraine lose or an endless war. I see this crap in social media all the time and it’s just flat wrong. We provide Ukraine assistance for them to defend themselves, improve or solidify their positions, while simultaneously negotiating for peace. This is the right way to do it. The honorable way that doesn’t cause are allies and partner nations to doubt our promises in the futures
Russia does a helluva job with social media.

They spread the lie that Ukraine can't possibly win when Russia's military looks like something out of Mad Max.

People are duped by Russian propaganda on Ukraine like they were with the Russian Collusion Hoax.

For people to actually side with Putin, who allows no political dissent and literally kills political opponents - smart people - gives truth the the Krushchev claim that they will take down the US without ever firing a shot.

Key quote from Rubio, and I certainly hope he has Trump's backing for this sentiment, referring to the Russians: "I hope they’re going to say yes. If they do, then I think we’ve made great progress. If they say no, then we’ll unfortunately know what the impediment is to peace here."
Marco is going to get a talking to from Ms. Donald J. Putin.

Yep. I don't know if this is Trump and Rubio playing good cop, bad cop, but that's getting down the the nitty gritty of the situation.

The possible beginnings of a cease fire deal would normally be enthusiastically accepted by the markets, but no so much now...

I guess they figure that our POS POTUS will likely flip-flop by tomorrow

Markets is your topic. Selfish. Not very woke of you. Be nice to end a horrible war after all of these years

Heard a commentator today say that in the last year, Russia has taken land about 2/3 the size of Delaware while suffering US Vietnam War casualty numbers.

From the Guardian, this bit from Trump certainly sounds like he's on the same page as Rubio:

Trump continued: “We’re going to meet with them [the Russians] later on today and tomorrow and hopefully we’ll be able to [work] out a deal. I think the ceasefire is very important. If we can get Russia to do it, that’ll be great. If we can’t we just keep going on and people are gonna get killed, lots of people.”

I won't get my hopes up until the missiles stop flying. And even if it works, a good outcome doesn't erase my complete astonishment at how Trump has gone about this, but a win, ultimately, is a win.

The Russians have always been the impediment to peace....

In general, I'd agree. But how would we know? Biden admin never spoke to him. I know there are documented cases of telepathy, but I seriously doubt Joe Biden possesses that ability.

Invading Ukraine is a massive clue.

Hundreds of thousands of young men might have appreciated the US President engaging in peace talks instead of sleeping on a beach. Maybe making a phone call instead of celebrating boob flashers on the WH lawn would have saved some lives. We will never know since our tough talking, ice cream licking, Commander-in-Sleep never tried.

Did all that happen before or after your homeland invaded Ukraine?

Russia takes volunteers too. They wouldn’t take you either.

You are taking to two guys that served our country in the military while you didn’t.
Oh come on - Russia always needs cannon fodder.

Problem is, he'd be so ass-raped by the time he got to the front, he'd be a crying mass of blubber.

Then you should feel even more ashamed for not being in Ukraine yesterday, given your requisite experience.
Well, in Aloha's case, there's no need for his skill set because Russia doesn't have a functioning Navy in the Black Sea anymore.

In my case, Ukrainians already speak Russian, for the most part, so my skill set is not needed.

But Putin always needs more cannon fodder, so step up!

It happened after the last admin decided it was a good idea to 1) cut oil production to allow for price increases and increased Russian profits, and 2) the last admin decided Ukraine in NATO was a good idea.

RUSSIA RUSSIA RUSSIA!!! Sick burn, Jan.

We cut oil production when? It dropped during COVID, oil prices plummeted and a lot of oil companies went bankrupt. Shale oil costs more to get to than Saudi oil.

We struggled to ramp up, with a lot of retirees from oil like everywhere else and investors skittish from the bankruptcies. In 22 we produced as much as 19, and set the record in 23.

Saudi Arabia cut oil production significantly in a deal with Russia.

Doesn't change the bare basic fact that Russia is the aggressor. Russia broke international law by engaging in a war of aggression for territory. I mean, you can analyze it in 100 different ways, but Russia is the impediment, Russia is the cause, Russia is the bad guy. There's no avoiding that.
