What Democracy? Why does Trump hate Democracy so much? This is terrible /s.
Don't sweat it,What Democracy?
Why would we want 80% paying no income tax? Why not lower income tax on the top 20% as well?
Trump and the GOP f#cked this one up. If you're going to be a populist, lowering taxes for 80% of society is a really good policy position. It also makes tariffs a lot more palpable.
I would be fine with including everyone and lowering the threshold some to make up the difference. I just don't give a shit about the top 10% because they benefit the most from the current monetary system and they'll fine. Also, lowering the taxes for the bottom 80% is more likely to stimulate the economy. The GOP could have helped the middle/working class and secured a win in the mid terms. Instead they cut taxes for rich people in blue states, boomers, and servers. Why would we want 80% paying no income tax? Why not lower income tax on the top 20% as well?
This is hilarious.I see where Trump's tariff trade strategy was referred to as TACO Trade.
Trump Always Chickens Out.
He was not amused when a reporter asked him about the name.

Good griefTrump can mock the physically challenged, cruelly separate children from their parents, withhold billions from Harvard and California, intimidate cowardly Republicans and conservative law firms, move to Florida to spite liberal New York City, ignore the Supreme Court, but the one thing TACO Don simply cannot touch is the most conservative and truly American institution of all—Wall Street.
Savage.
And the ironic double whammy is the origin of tacos — Mexico.
Unsurprising. There is no national emergency that authorized the President, any President, to implement these tariffs.
Good for the market, probably.

Trump's sweeping global tariffs blocked by federal court — Axios
A federal court on Wednesday ruled President Trump does not have the authority under economic emergency legislation to impose sweeping global tariffs.apple.news
Reducing chaos and uncertainty is usually good for the market.Markets should rip higher tomorrow.
Exactly. Easy decision by the Court of International Trade. This was not a decision by some random district court judge.Unsurprising. There is no national emergency that authorized the President, any President, to implement these tariffs.
TACO!
Standby for a long, rambling, unhinged Truth Social / Twitter rant from the President tonight.TACO!
It really affects 40%, since 40% don't pay any taxes anyway.

It's also interesting that appeals from the Court of International Trade are heard by the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. The CAFC is best known for handling all appeals in patent litigation, trademark registration, International Trade Commission (often IP related), and some other obscure types of cases. I would not be at all surprised if the CAFC were to take the case en banc (decided by all 12 judges rather than a panel of 3). The CAFC has two Biden appointees and zero Trump appointees. However, it would be very difficult to pigeon-hole any of the CAFC judges as being liberal or conservative given the types of cases they normally handle.Exactly. Lib v conservative in political terms is irrelevant here. It's also interesting that appeals from the Court of International Trade are heard by the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. As a side note, one CAFC judge, Pauline Newman, is 97 years old. She has been suspended by the CAFC itself based on her refusal to cooperate with an investigation as to whether she is cognitively impaired. It's an interesting case that is ongoing, with many claiming she is more than capable to continue serving. Nevertheless, she would not participate in any appeal of the tariff ruling.

Would the Supremes defer to the Appeals Court based on their expertise?Lib v conservative in political terms is irrelevant here.

As in not take the case? No. As in under some legal standard of deference? Depends.Would the Supremes defer to the Appeals Court based on their expertise?
I was just thinking they might be less apt to take the case, barring any obvious mistakes. They don't have to be the last word on every damn thing. IIUC, this was a narrow case based on a strict application of the law. Unless they want to examine the law itself, what expertise can they bring above and beyond? As in not take the case? No. As in under some legal standard of deference? Depends.
You don't blame him when it goes down?Trump will take credit for it.

I haven't seen anyone blame it on Biden. Duhhh. No, that part is Bidens economy. Duhhh.
I haven't seen anyone blame it on Biden. Duhhh.
It becomes Trump's economy in 2026 when people vote during midterms. They can deflect for 6-12 months, which is politics.
You realize there's a difference between the economy and the stock market, right?
