Before the holidays my older neighbor was bragging about a couple bottles his collector nephew found. I said, well it looks like you will have some fantastic tastes over the holidays. He sheepishly says, actually no. He won’t open them. He wants to sell them in the secondary market.
Assholes.
I think this has been in the early stages for the past year or so. But I could be wrong about that.
A lot of the demand has come from China. Same goes for premium wines, brandies, Scotch, cigars, etc. I was at the duty free in Heathrow recently, and was floored by their prices for Cuban cigars. I think the cheapest box they had was around 700£.
A guy who's plugged in to that world told me it's mostly the Chinese driving this.

Fentanyl is a totally different beast than any drug the world has dealt with. The components aren’t illegal and it takes very little of it. China supplies the raw materials that can be sent in very small containers. The combining of the components is easy(from my understanding) and is done in a kitchen apartment anywhere and everywhere. Instead multiple sweat shops etc..or a meth lab it’s done with basic chemistry lab kits. They even train the people how. This is why it’s going to be damn near impossible to stop. The key is stopping one of the components.
So reading and listening to different experts on the tariff stuff. The ultimate goal is to do a 1-1 currency with Canada. Not making them a state but an even closer financial and security partner. No more passports and a real united boarder. the real goal is banks of each country use a digital “backed currency”. Canadians are tired of the left policies and tired rhetoric of the current administration. They are ready for major changes.
If the threat of tariffs were just that, a threat, then anything gained from their use can hardly be called “blinking”.
Besides, all of this is going toward strengthening the border, which is what he was elected to do.
Take a victory lap if you’d like, I guess.
Agree on access but there is treatment. Suboxone and therapy. Can treat from your couch with teletherapy. And a boatload of money flooding the market for it
Neither Canada nor Mexico made any "concessions" outside of agreeing to follow up on proposals that they have already agreed to, with very minor tweaks like appointing a "czar"to oversee progress on fulfilling the previously-promised obligations.
Canada/Mexico: "End these tariffs and we'll make sure that the sun rises tomorrow".

I've heard rumors that bourbon prices will be dropping and that the allocated bottles will become more easily obtainable. Haven't seen either yet in Ohio.
There isn't a bourbon lover alive who would let a jury convict you of assault by nut punch if you took matters into your own hands.
Me neither. I will say, bourbon is between 10-20% cheaper here in California. Scotch is cheaper in Indiana. I need to start a liquor running business.
The Canadian offer/commitment came after Trumps election and after he started in on his tariff threat. In addition to the czar, Canada agreed to joint international enforcement.
Mexico now agreed to a permanent deployment. But I don’t think we can know what permanent means. It’s also my understanding Mexico agreed to enforce its southern border.
In both cases, tariffs remain a threat.

At the end of the day, Canada is many things. But above all else, we’re a bunch of grudge holding mother****ers. You’ve taken your shot at us, so now we won’t rest until we get you back. And not just with the big, tariff stuff. Get ready for a whole bunch of small, ultimately inconsequential but still pretty annoying moves from us. We’re going to boo your anthem, pour out your bourbon, and continue not driving your Cybertrucks. We might even turn off the electricity for the northeast right before the Super Bowl. **** it. Why not?

Amazing that the posters above you quoted rather see America lose than Trump win, even if it means America wins too…
interesting strategy you’re promoting instead. Keep the ultra-successful “do nothing” tactics….
Fight the war internally. We cannot keep drugs out especially since Americans are bringing them in. They are shipped in mixed with real goods. Are we going to open and search every container on every ship and plane?
We have to do ehow fight by attacking demand.
It very much is guerilla warfare. We need to win the hearts and minds.
So start a Say No to Drugs campaign again?
Maybe we should try a catchy slogan, like “say no to drugs” or fry some eggs for a commercial stating “this is your brain on drugs”. If wiping out some of the fvckers bringing the stuff in saves the life of one kid, it’s worthwhile, as is fighting the demand side, but we know that ain’t enough either.
