Trump got his ass kicked today.

So lot of Americans can get ****ed for the next 3 years while we wait out the chaos? Does that contsitute our current strategy as a nation?

Also, saying we'll have favorable trades deals "thanks to Trump" is (since you like analogies) like saying that your neighbor's dog shitting in your yard is favorable b/c of the green patches. The dog is still shitting in your yard. And you neighbor knows you don't have the ability to do shit about it.

We gave up our manufacturing base and captured the profits. What did we reinvest them in? Product design? Cool. Where are those products built?

Now, how does that REALISTICALLY ever come back to the US. Even highend assembly like iPhones or computers?
Are you getting f*cked? What happened exactly?

Countries are on line to renegotiate tariffs. Some good will come of that.

Bessent clearly talked him down. You’d think the people who constantly proclaim Trump is surrounded by sniveling sycophants would recognize that and admit they were wrong.

But no, still sycophants, somehow.

Everyone that’s attacked Bessent should hope to god he stays in place because Trump’s old NYC party buddy Lutnick seems to share the same love of tariffs as Trump and there’s no telling what the two of them might get up to together.
Would have thought a much better strategy would be to talk him down before he shits the bed in implementing an unheard of, untested, laughable and failure on its face economic policy. But that's just me.

Peter Navarro and his alter ego Ron Vara remind me of the old Monty skit about building a bridge between the two peaks of mounts Kilimanjaro

So if all these countries lower their tariffs as it has been reported then who won?
Almost every country Trump listed does not have tariffs anywhere NEAR where Trump claimed. They are not contacting him to lower the tariffs that in many cases don't exist at all, they are contacting him to tell them that he's a nutjob, that this is our rate, that we can adjust it if you do yours, but it will based on REALITY. It isn't based on dividing the number of cereal boxes in your pantry divided by the number of dress socks in your drawer, and calling that the tariff. Or similar nonsense.

Can’t hope for 100% good policy. Unicorns don’t exist. Corrective action to bad policy should be celebrated.

Currently, let me check.....no.

But i'm trying to be 10 yrs out from gettnig the **** out of this goddamn office i'm sitting in and doing something more rewarding like DISC GOLF Masters Tournaments (yewg money).

Some good may come from this on the back of ****ing over normies 2-3 yrs out from retirement. And everybody can spare me the "you should be in bonds at 55" horseshit. There's too many of us trying to do anything to catch up from mistakes in our 20's to have to eat a full year or two of essentially flat returns.

Look, I'm not saying things don't need to change but can we have a ****ing plan at least.

I think it is more than reasonable to hope for an economic policy that is based upon sound and proven economic principles just even conceptually backed up by the math or past practice.

I think it is more than reasonable to hope that our calculation of other countries tariffs on our exports might actually be correct.

I think it is more than reasonable to hope that our president does not continue to spout off absurd statements such as "we are all going to be rich" because of these tariffs.

I think it is more than reasonable to hope we shouldn't abandon our neighbors/allies by burying them with tariffs and abominable takeover threats.

We do not live in the pre Adam Smith/David Ricardo mercantilism era. We should have sound economic advisors, not Howard Lutnick and not Peter Navarro, and those two are the squeeky wheels.

I'm not saying I bought the first three seasons of the A-Team from Amazon Prime b/c I couldn't find it for free on any of my 11 streaming services, but I'm not saying I didn't either.

This was a couple years ago. It does not hold up and is horrible. But camp is gonna camp and you end up watching it.

For all those GenX children out there I have only one parting thought:

TRASHBAGS!!!!!

Nice vent. In a vacuum sure, all of the above is reasonable. But we don’t live in that world, and Trump for all the excesses like your examples above was/ is still preferable to the alternative. And people voted him in with eyes open knowing stuff like the above was a possibility or even probability.

They also recognized that impulsive and slap dash as he is, the notion that he can’t be talked down is untrue.

At least Farva can recognize that Trump makes mistakes, unlike these others claiming the mistakes aren't mistakes at all, but just steps in a master plan.

There is published data showing what the tariffs actually are--not a calculation that used the wrong velocity for price, but the actual tariff amount and what good. The press secretary came out one day and said "look at this, Japan tariffs us at 700%." Nonsense. Way back in 1994/1995 a deal was cut where Japan would agree to import x amount of rice from the US --a substantial amount, with no tariffs attached to it. Only when that import number rose past x (again, a mammoth amount), would tariff's climb to 700%, which was only hit a couple of times and represented only .03% percent of the amount of rice shipped to Japan.

You might need to segue to your post with something like, “In the real world…”

What about our 'democracy' is unstable?

We elected Trump when he promised to implement stuff tariffs, no? Is it now undemocratic to do so?
No, it's not undemocratic.

But for trading partners, our attitudes are unstable. For the last 50 or so years, there has been a biparty consensus on our support for NATO, trade deals, the lack of wisdom in tariffs, etc. If we as a nation are now divided on those issues, and our elections seesaw back and forth between parties with polar opposite views, those trading parties have a lot of uncertainty.

That’s exactly what the f*** a Farva is. The fat f*** on super troopers.

Speaking of funny cop movies, Liam Neeson is playing Drebin Jr in a new Naked Gun movie.
