Life swings back and it always does. After the roaring twenties [progressives were going on for at least two decades] the stock market crash and WWII swung the pendulum back to a very conservative country for a couple of years.

Post world war 2 also saw the Highway system, Jackie Robinson, Brown V Education, equal right acts. Etc etc. All progressive ideas for the time.
People get too caught up in the words and what they might mean to their tribes. "Gasp! No way I'm progressive about anything!" I'm as liberal as they come. However I have a lot of conservative leaning. Most lean one way or the other but we are all both when it comes down to it.
Those were not 'progressive', as defined today. They were all ideas championed by..... Republicans. Because Republicans have always been for equal treatment for everyone and building something of value. And still are.
Democrats have turned 'progressive' into a dirty word by the emphasis on identity politics
Not one Republican is a know Nazi. There are several prominent members of the Dems who are known Marxist. Most recent example is the Mayor of LA.
Especially when they preach to you and try to tell you how to vote. Maybe they should try and win on issues and quit fear mongering on the old " nazi" and " facism" playbook. That does not work anyone and a big reason why Harris lost.
That's my point. Both sides have bastardized the term. Also "conservative". Both have been around since the beginning of time. People flow freely between both. Progressivism always wins but conservativism reigns things in, as to not go to far off the farm.
