Do we really want someone that is still considering LSU? He has no official visit to IU. Would love to have him but with a roster packed full of forwards, IU might not be the best place for him.

Before I answer that, I first answer: do I care about answering a question from someone who's screen name has 2 posts and was probably created to instigate? The answer to that one is no.
Trendon Watford woukd start immediately for IU.
Our program needs to get the best available players. We have a need for upgrading our 2's and 3's to add shooters, but I would not turn down Watford.
Fans worry about playing time, but it usually works out. The best play more minutes and the backups contribute and play more on nights they are playing very well. Those that don't play either accept their role or move on. We should never turn away a player that makes the team better. I like that Archie recognizes quickly when a bench layer is having a good game and will give him more time to get the most out of the performance that day.
I'm okay with the 11 spots we have filled. Shooting will hopefully improve with work, experience and as a result of a deeper front court. I don't see adding another player at this point that will greatly improve our back court or shooting immediately. Archie isn't panicking and signing players hoping someone is the next Calbert Cheaney. He is waiting on the players that can really improve the team.

And WTF is this idea that because Wade is a cheater, and a Watford kid is considering playing for LSU, that makes the Watfords dirty? Who came up with this asinine idea? Somebody needs to explain that the transitive property of equality doesn't apply here. That family is Hoosier tried and true in my humble opinion, and anyone who would even suggest they are dirty is either an idiot or has an agenda...likely both. The fact that these posters would impugn the character of that family, even passively implying such nonsense, says more about them than it does about the Watfords.

I like Watford for IU because he comes from a high character family and a legacy who understands the program. I also like him because he is an outstanding wing with PF size and he would be a good fit for the Hoosiers.

kids playing for wade are getting paid. the watfords know that. you think trendon is comfortable not getting any money if some of his teammates are? i don't understand your position. college hoops is lousy with cheating and corruption. lsu stands tall, smack dab in the middle of it. trendon has them in his final 4. why are you ok with it? has wade apologized, or paid any price for his misdeeds? on the contrary. wade told his bosses to go suck it and they backed down. is watford going to be a bastion of honesty and righteousness amidst a sea of corruption? do want indiana to get thrown in with the lsu's, arizona's and duke's of the world? not me. you are who you associate with.

Watford also likely knows the NCAA isnt going to do a thing to Wade so he is not really that worried he will not be around next season. LSU will stand with him 100%. IU simply cannot compete with these schools who are paying. Likely why we are finishing 2nd and 3rd in alot of these recruiting battles.
He wouldn’t even be considering us if it wasn’t for his brother. Why would he come to IU right now?
I might remember Christian on Hoosier Hysterics podcast saying Trendon wanted to go somewhere where he would be ‘featured’ and be ‘the guy’...turned me off a little.
But to me that would eliminate Memphis.
Probably would elevate LSU once the guys stay in the draft, or deflate LSU chances if most come back.
IU offers the biggest opportunity to become ‘the man’ based on the known roster. The scary part would be knowing that Archie let Romeo disappear and did nothing to involve him in the offense...on top of missing the tourney yearly w better rosters.

I flat out guarantee for every 1 kid getting paid @ the cheating schools, there are 2-4 not getting paid on that same team. Funny there was no talk of Watford now since Brooks and others have said no people are flipping out Archie is not a coach kids want to play for transfers no tournament appearances what does he got going will have to get some diamonds in the rough.
I agree on starting and also foresee a portal transfer for current forwards for
next year. IU can't afford a reputation like this recruitment is to difficult.

Wade has lost his top assistant Benford to TCU. The top stars declared
possibly to avoid NCAA questions and maybe implications. I think LSU reinstated Wade only to avoid a salary dispute and to lessen the embarrassing front page corruption news.
Watford probably will wait until June or July to commit. Nate Oats and Alabama could be a fall back for Watford. He is an Alabama son so his hold out won't look bad at all.

for what it's worth, word is that Watford is supposed to announce this weekend and Crystal Ball doesn't even have IU in the mix. (LSU 80% , Memphis 20%). He is not coming to Bloomington.
Considering what is coming out re LSU in the FBI drama, the kid is willing to step into a rather deep pile of shite in Baton Rouge. Have fun with that.

I do not know why anyone ever thought we had a shot. Yes we got a very late in home visit but we were never really in this one. Still have no idea why we are not being mentioned with any grad transfers. Minnesota just got a 2nd one yesterday.
By the time the NCAA get around to looking at LSU he will be long gone into the NBA. I doubt he cares at all.
I'm sure there are kids that come on official visits and tell the schools they need money to come there because their family can't afford the items they need to start college or have the money to travel to school. I would expect there are schools that find a way around this need for money. There are other kids that don'task because they know it is putting their collegiate days in jeopardy. Even though it may be a hardship, some players don't break the rules.
Some kids come in having their travel for AAU tournaments paid for by a sponsor and expect schools to pay for every item even if it is not allowed. This is where I believe shoe companies and paid consultants have found ways to reward students through generous and sometimes questionable or illegal support.
WWW was a shadowy person with a background nobody wanted to investigate. He somehow went from someone selling shoes, to sitting behind team benches across the country with no identifiable employer. Did schools invite him and pay him to travel so he would speak kindly and share his own "personal" money with players? Why else would a kid listen to him? I always suspected he was working for Nike, but schools granted him access as though he was an invited guest by them.
Whatever is going on, it is very effective and nobody has turned out to be a whistle blower. The unlikely scenario is that there isn't widespread cheating. However, the FBI probe shows there is cheating. I don't believe they wanted to take down every offender, but send a message to the big names to clean up.
Generally speaking, the "support" from shoe companies (or elsewhere) is not actually illegal, just against NCAA rules. However, the means to conceal this support from the NCAA is where the legal issues arise, and what brings in FBI or other law enforcement.
There is still a huge benefit of the NCAA system to players with professional prospects. Whether the benefit is real or perceived is up for debate, but its that benefit that prevents players from completely bypassing the NCAA.
His first season. Then he went to the Elite 8 year 2 and OT of the title game year 3.
It’s not like he lost his momentum with a disaster like we just had.
Or LSU wants to win and Wade can do that. I know it’s becoming a rare thought for some IU fans.
