Couldn't be happier. Awesome!
Thrilled that it was Archie. I was so nervous it would be Alford. Complete Home Run.

About as good a hire, as could be reasonably expected.
I'm pumped. Let's get some recruiters on staff and get this ball rolling.
I'd rather have Steve.
At least it wasn't Alford, that's about the only good thing to say.
So we hire a guy that will probably jump ship the minute the Ohio State job becomes available?
Don't get me wrong. He is our coach & I will fully support him. I just think it is a little risky since he has made it perfectly clear he covets Matta's job.
Listen to yourself. As good a hire as can be reasonably expected? WHAT? We're elite, and you're talking like we are Purdue or Oklahoma State or Missouri. Which quite frankly, seems about right. No home run, and blah written all over it.
Whatever...we got rid of a guy who was pathetic and got the best young up and coming coach on the marketListen to yourself. As good a hire as can be reasonably expected? WHAT? So Uk has never hired an up and coming coach? What about ucla? What was urban Meyer when Florida hired him? Texas football hired Tom Herman....aka as an up and coming coach.Up and coming, yup, that screams elite. More like taking a flyer (no pun intended) on an unknown quantity. At least it wasn't Gerry Faust.

You. Are. An. Idiot.
Jones is dumb as a stump. Fails to realize that Coach K and RMK and others became household names because someone took a chance. Please die in a fire or get mauled by a bear
I agree. Now lets get some good 4-5 stars from the state of Indiana. Also, I hope and pray he doesn't sub the way Clappy did...Couldn't be happier. Awesome!

LO L.....I like that: Dumb as a stump...Jones is dumb as a stump. Fails to realize that Coach K and RMK and others became household names because someone took a chance.
You are a really tough guy sitting behind that keyboard in you mom's basement.
I am one of the OLD Alford I U fans but with me I U bball comes first. Glad we are getting a good coach and I will givie him a chance and support him before calling for a lynch mob...He was one if the 5 most thought would be a good hire. Seems there are a lot of butt hurt Alford fans out there.

Just heard on the radio an interview with a college basketball insider who said it was a great hire. They asked him about Alford and said one of the reasons IU did not go after hi was what the fans reaction to him was. Also was asked which was the better job IU or UCLA and he said it was a coin flip.Whatever...we got rid of a guy who was pathetic and got the best young up and coming coach on the market
@indianajones was going to be upset with any hire. If we got Donovan he would have cried cause we paid him to much, we hire a hit. And in the market and he bashes him. He is mad it Crean is gone....just let him pout
Is he an OSU grad? Because you don't leave IU for OSU unless it's football. If he builds a winning program at IU there's no way he'd want to be where basketball is always an afterthought to their beloved football program. So we hire a guy that will probably jump ship the minute the Ohio State job becomes available?

Might not agree with the guy but why stoop to saying dumb things like this. Why not be adults here. Please die in a fire or get mauled by a bear
Do you ever get tired of typing the same thing over and over...Up and coming, yup, that screams elite. More like taking a flyer (no pun intended) on an unknown quantity. At least it wasn't Gerry Faust.
Not really the only "tournament that matters is NCAA" so everyone would dismiss your conment about the 1 missed tourneyI established a week or so ago whom I would be happy with, so your statements are untrue. Of course, this would require you to read, and how many times today have you proven to be incapable of such a simple task.
Couldn't be happier. Awesome!

Dane needs to get a MAC level head coaching position and prove himself on that stage. (And no, the FW job doesn't count.)And if he was going to take a young coach, why not Fife? Dane needs to get out there and prove himself if he wants this job if Archie doesn't work out.
Wooden worked out.Football is different than basketball. Urban Meyer was an established coach that went undefeated at Utah. Let's see how Tom Herman does, Texas hires the last few years in basketball and football haven't exactly set the world on fire. UK did hire some up and coming coaches, and failed. So did UCLA. That's the point!
