Sound like ol P Stew had some thoughts on Twitter. Glad he’s gone

It looks like Phinisee, Lander, and Parker don't like TJD's comments. Hmmmm....

WGAF what those guys think.

If there are conflicting opinions coming from guys who are no longer obligated to maintain team cohesion, then let's hear it. I'm not saying their words are going to affect my assessment of TJD's statements, but still, I'll listen to what they have to say.

I would listen but their character is showing. They look like butthurt jilted ex girlfriends. Phin lost his starting job and PS was basically told to hit the road. PS screwed up off the court more than anyone besides X.

Didn’t like what comments/what did Parker and Phin say (I see the above tweets but have no idea what it means). I didn’t listen to the podcast, so I’m not sure what any of this is about (or what any speculation is as to what it might be about)????

NW was a big reason Fife got fired. Mountains out of mole hills, that lead to covering up for players, that led to this stupid BS. Thank god none of the players had my brain. They would have all been kicked off last year if it were up to the IU public.

I promise that almost every other team post Knight had more pot smoking and rule breaking than last years team. The speculation and making up of shit is pretty crazy to me.

That’s not what I’m talking about. Sounds to me like PS didn’t like the strict rules.

I think it’s clear from TJD’s words that he feels like we got rid of the bad apples. I don’t think RP should be lumped in with that group, but Stewart, Durr, and Lander were bad apples and I’m glad they are gone.

Stewart was never good enough to wear an IU uniform first and foremost, and all the bs drama he brought should have been dealt with. Instead he started. Happy trails in Tennessee or wherever the hell he is.

“Write a book… “. He should be thankful IU ever took him.

I’ll stick with guys like TJD who think there should be a no tolerance policy for it during the season. They know the rules.

I'd rather not even see speculation on who/what. If he didn't feel like he should name names, then I don't think we should either, unless you have direct knowledge of the situation. I think we all agree we're better with TJD's return and it's great to hear him talking about this year and setting goals and to be excited for the team we have coming together.

Honestly though, I've listened to about half the Hoosier Hysterics interview and the entire press conference one, and I didn't hear anything so far that should've upset anyone. It sounds to me like TJD has gone out of his way, not to throw anyone under the bus. I think it's more that those guys feel like or know they did something wrong last year and they're being defensive. Maybe there's some stuff I've not heard yet, but as careful as he's been in choosing his words and trying to avoid that, I'm expecting he'll do the same for the rest of the interview.

Well, we know Stewart, Durr, and Lander were involved in the Northwestern incident which TJD basically confirmed was drug related.

Stewart specifically was the guy we most needed to get rid of from a culture perspective. Suspended twice during the season. Riding shotgun with XJ after the season. Also, he had the two on court scuffles that almost lead to a loss vs ND and did lead to a loss at Purdue. Dude was a cancer.

You don't know that he was a cancer, may of had some issues, but you have no idea what kind of character he has

In the interviews, it sounds like there could have been some drug issues over the course of the year, but completely unrelated to NW which sounded like it was completely about curfew.

Way more character than I at the same age. I don’t know a soul that has met him tht doesn’t think he is an outstanding human. But people like to trash others to make up an agenda why were not as good as they wanted last year. Comical.

I'll trust TJD's take and the take of others around the program.
But, from what I've heard so far, you're not trusting TJD's take. You're trusting your inpretation of what you think his take is. Just leave it that pretty much everyone, from TJD to CMW and on down I am sure thinks we're in a better position heading in to 22-23 than we were last year, or than anyone expected after that St Mary's loss, not to mention the drama with XJ and DF. No reason to throw kids under the bus who played for IU last year and are still college kids, especially with no direct, first-hand knowledge.

What is your opinion of Xavier Johnson? Should he still be on the team? The reason I am bringing him up is he was not in the Northwestern game either. And then he is driving 90mph in Bloomington. A case could be made he is a bad apple too. But like everybody else we are not in the know.

It was clear TJD was referring to the departed players during the interview when talking about team chemistry last year vs what they expect this year. It’s clear Stewart, RP, and Lander felt he was talking about them as well given their butthurt tweets.

Others with first hand knowledge have come forward to confirm Stewart and Durr were not interested in being apart of the culture IU is trying to build.

I’ve given my opinion on this numerous times. I don’t believe he should still be in the team. Woodson made the choice to keep him and also made the choice to get rid of the other 4. For that reason, I’m behind XJ. I don’t have much faith that he won’t act out again, however. I believe TJD was giving him a public warning on the behavior that is to be expected this year.

You're reading that into what he said. His comments about team chemistry last year were linked to learning the system and three new starters.

And his unprovoked thoughts on having a no tolerance drug policy this year? Saying it was absolutely an issue on the teams his been on at IU? Talking about keeping XJ around him and Race?

Not what I heard. Could he have been referring to the guys you say? Yes, and he seemed to try and walk that back a bit and point more to the fact that just having a full year of experience behind them of how CMW wants them to play and his expectations puts them way ahead this year, which makes perfect sense. Then couple that with bringing in a talented freshmen class, I think not only is that what he was trying to say, I think that's what he said. The other crap is just speculation on your part, and I think it's best if you don't name names.... but you don't seem to be able to help yourself there. I'd agree, he inferred there were some problem attitudes or folks but I think he went to lengths not to name names and not to infer that about someone to whom it might not apply. The only name of guys I specifically remember him saying of guys who are gone was Phinisee and that was how happy he was to see him perform so well vs PU after all the crap he went through and that he'll do well at Cincy.

You'd do well to follow TJD's take and not speculate on who or if there were "bad apples".

... and also made the choice to get rid of the other 4.
Again, your speculation. You don't know that CMW made the decision to get rid of the other 4. We only know they are gone, and it easily could have just been they felt it was time to move on, didn't feel his system was the best fit for them, or that maybe with incoming players their role would be changed/reduced and they chose to leave. Why do you feel the need to crap on guys? They played for IU and are gone. Wish them well and move on.

He was clear in who he was referring to. I’m glad they are gone and IU will be better for it.

It’s known that they were not welcome back. Start following IUBB more closely, and you would know that too.

This wouldn’t even be a topic if they didn’t start with their butthurt tweets. Clearly they haven’t moved on.

One problem with zero tolerance for drugs is that if 14 players each take 10 drug tests that are 95% accurate, the math tells you that you will get about 7 false positives. Catch them in the act? Sure.

IU isn’t actively drug testing players. When they get caught that triggers the drug test. IU policy is a 3 game minimum suspension for a failed drug test.

I'm not saying it wasn't an issue, just that we don't know who. There were a couple notable 3-game absences, but one of those guys is still on the team.

And people disagree about smoking pot. We don't know what CMW's response was to TJD's suggestion (I'm guessing he's not too happy about him going public.)

Who was a 3 game absence on the current team other than Galloway who broke his wrist?

People can disagree whether or not weed should be legal or illegal, but it’s against NCAA and IU rules meaning that it’s out of bounds for IU players. It doesn’t matter one’s opinion on the matter considering those are the rules.

I bet Woodson is perfectly fine with TJD’s comments. This is the exact type of attitude and leader IU has been missing since Yogi.

I don't ever intend to "follow" it as closely as you seem to think you do. I won't ever try and follow tweets and SM posts of a bunch of college kids and try and infer meaning from that. Besides, why do I need to? I have you for that apparently!

I'm surprised to learn you're just "following" IU bball, I was beginning to think you were on the staff!

I think he's referring to LD.

It’s quite cheap to pay for information from IUBB writers which also gains you access to other insiders who post on the same website.
