I started with Peeg's about 1998 and have been coming here off and on since but the last couple of months has totally ruined this board for me. They keep allowing the same idiot on here with a different user name who is only trying to be a troll. Until they do something about it I and I am done with this board which will make a lot of people happy. I might come to this site to see if there is any breaking news but probably won't post anymore. There are far better boards than this one where you can actually have civil conversations about IU basket and not have to wade through this mess.

Rather than making this a referendum on the OP, hard to rate this a great forum/site given all the shit being deposited at the front door that one has to navigate through twice/thrice a day. One would like to imagine the 'powers' being smart/interested enough to figure it out. Been over two months now...
Considering it is obvious which treads are started by the current incarnation of randyjenkins, they are pretty easy to avoid.

I left the premie for this exact reason. My take is those running the board are not actually IU fans (a fact) They don’t truly give a damn.
Trolls are reality, but to allow them to ruine the experience has cost this site membership. I have no doubt about that.
Trolls are easy to block, I did it here and with every new iteration of Ord (is Larry still here)?

Their solution is put him on ignore instead of them taking responsibility to clean things up. They told us many times on the premium board these forums are like a bar.

I tried to explain we don't have the tech for a permaban. If everyone had put this guy on ignore originally, then his posts don't even exist. I do this same thing on social media EVERY SINGLE DAY, mute/block/etc on Twitter.
But no, I was insisted upon that we should ban him. We did, and now he keeps popping up, and people are surprised.
Self-Infliction, IMO. You are always the 1st one to get into piss'n wars with the trolls which only enables them further. This thread complaining about trolls is as useless as threads started by trolls. I do not see any civil conversation in this thread about IU basket. I do hope they score a few baskets this years.

There's an option of contacting his/her/its ISP and blocking via that route, or as suggested previously, new sign-ups require a CC deposit for 30 days that is forfeit for violating regulations, i.e., getting banned during those 30 days. Other options as well but the bottom line is that access is so unfettered that you guys have basically lost control of your own Board. And that's on you - not us.

Ignoring works, just like it does for other online communities like Twitter and Facebook.
This community is no different. When you don’t like someone on Facebook, you don’t go to Facebook and demand they be banned and tell Facebook they have lost control. You unfriend or block them - or, mindblowing idea, just move on?
It gives each user the ability to control their own experience. If you want to argue with trolls you can. If you’re tired of it, you can put them on ignore.
It is the best solution for everyone, it is a proven, viable strategy if you guys would just listen to me.

Never buying the rationale for how ignoring trash is equivalent to disposing of it - not remotely a 'solution'. And Facebook is the last entity I'd be holding up as a benchmark for acceptable performance standards. Its like using Wells Fargo as the gold standard for personal banking.
Just a suggestion and since I’m computer ignorant not sure if it would work. What if all new members weren’t able to post for 30 days? They can browse, like and read posts, but can’t comment. I realize that every thirty days a troll could then post, but wouldn’t that give us a reprieve for that time?

That would only give us one 30-day reprieve. The troll would start making new accounts each day for the 30 straight days. Then he'd have a new account going into the "now I can post" phase every day...and still pull the same nonsense.
I know who you’re talking about op. She posts here a lot with stupid threads but she also comes over to rafters and posts threads about ky being gay, and then started some thread about crying because Indiana hasn’t won since 1987. She went on to say that she wishes Indiana was more like ky. I can’t think of her handle but she uses it on here but since her handle got banned on rafters she will start new handles and post stupid threads that are taken down in 5 mins or less
