They can’t understand Tom Allen….

Wow!... To get the whole picture read the article where this tweet came from... The story was on StateCollege.com

To me, it sounds like TA has more than just a problem being understood on the headset (which makes sense to me)... but more important, from a few quotes, it sounds like he's had trouble gaining everyone's confidence, in both players and staff.

Wow! Again!

Maybe... a quote from the linebacker that 'he gets us more' on the younger guy now on the headset.

But over previous weeks there were a lot of articles that had quotes from Penn State players that Allen had quickly gotten them to buy in and they loved playing for him. It's his defense. Supposedly.

Too busy motivating and cheerleading to get to the Play Call. "Remember LEO Guys, LEO. Whoops no time to get to the Play Call.

TA: "Okay, this play, go cover two, weaksi.. SQUIRREL!!!...."

I had to stop watching his press conferences... It was like trying to find your way thru a maze.

He made the old NFL coach Bum Phillips sound articulate.

In fairness, Coach Allen was frequently hoarse during halftime interviews and for days following games at IU; the guy exhausts his voice by yelling/getting emotional during the game. My guess is by the end of the first quarter his calls were no longer understood. Compare that to Coach Cig who seems to rarely say much of anything during the game and when he does I have a feeling the players better damn well understand it and execute the first time he says it.

Because there are certain people here who can’t resist taking shots at him.
More than a few that were singing his praises in 2019 & 2020. Also several that said that Wommack was “in over his head” and a man unqualified family friend hire in 2019 when he struggled getting the defensive plays in. Obviously this was a year before he became a genius when the defense was incredibly successful. It’s odd.

Not sure why anyone would ridicule CTA at this point. He was all in for IU. Being hired as a first time head coach in the BIG is no small task. Ultimately he was let go and we have hired a proven coach. We are having a good year and the future is bright.

That's how I feel about former coaches and players. Their fates have already been sealed. I choose to try remember the positives and flush the rest. The horse is dead.

Don't see how most of this is too serious of 'ridiculing' of Tom Allen. Someone tweets that they think it's surprising. And some of us riff off it to have some fun with it. Doesn't affect Tom Allen or especially whether anybody think he's a high quality man or not. LOL Obviously he is a good man, and obviously he loved coaching Indiana. He also had a rambling way to answer questions and a gravely voice.

During last year’s spring touch football picnic, which might still be on YouTube, CTA was walking around warmups barking like that. One can only do that for so long before being tuned out.

All of the head banging, premature celebrating and non-stop screaming I indicate time that he was not thinking.

Well, maybe a good thing they took him off the headset to the players then.

A long time Penn State fan told us on a different sport message board 'thank you Indiana for Tom Allen' after just one game. Said 'this looks like the old Penn State defenses I used to love, good tackling, very aggressive corners'. (Yes, he said good tackling.) I watched much of the Illinois game, really shut them down, and Illinois was supposed to have some offense.

Tom is going to be successful at PSU, IMO, because his schtick works a ton when you’re winning. The post Wisconsin on field interview is the case in point there.

The rah-rah does NOT work when you’re losing because it comes off as forced and inauthentic.

PSU will give him enough athletes and offensive support, on average, that he’ll be in position for a good defensive effort to win games.

Exactly, just too much.

This board is going to be all kinds of entertaining when Indiana visits Penn State next season. 😂
