There are maybe 10,000 people here…

Looks like Bomba may be out for the year with a knee injury... Hopefully that's not the case and it's just serious knee sprain that'll he'll be able to return from but it looked bad...
I couldn’t tell who it was that got hurt at the time (we’re north EZ), but I could notice his body like “heaving” as he came off the field. I had no idea what the injury was but I told my buddy that he was clearly really hurt.

Fired? For one decision?
2 games in a row they go zone to end the 1st half and get scored on against inferior teams! Just saying, I hope this isn’t a trend going into B1G play. I may have went a little too far saying someone needs canned over this, but if it continues, then yes! The D needs to stay aggressive all game long and not lay back. I think CCC got pissed off once W iLL drove the ball and then changed the D back before they could score an easy TD.

Yes - that was our 2nd team defensive secondary on that drive from what I remember.

Really disappointing. We started until midway through the 4th.

I don’t understand why we schedule Western Illinois… you can create an easy non conference schedule without scheduling a bottom feeder FCS. Schedule Ball State or Miami (OH) and the crowd is 40,000 tonight instead of 20,000.

Not that it is a great comparison but last week Auburn played FCS Alabama A&M in front of 88,000 people. That’s what football fanaticism looks like.

It's called scheduling like the rest of the league...

W. Ill. Scheduling:
MN in "22", us in "24", IL in "25", WI in "26", and p u in "28"...

It's designed to be a practice game, a tune up of sorts before we hit the every game is a tough game that can decide the fate of the season part of the schedule...

It gives the guys who are somewhat buried on the depth chart a chance to reaffirm to themselves and the coaches (and their own friends and families) that they are still good players who deserve more looks and perhaps even more PT in the rotations...

It's basically a confidence builder for all concerned and (in my opinion) the absolute perfect game at the perfect time, giving us either an extra day of rest or an extra day of preparation for the UCLA game...

That was a brilliant scheduling move by Dolson and it tells me he's serious about football...

I was actually surprised by the crowd last night. To start the game it actually was a decent size for a Friday night, plus knowing you had both North and South high schools playing at home. I knew Western was bad but they just didn’t have the players to do much. Even with that, I like what I’m seeing with this team except those last defensive efforts right before the half.

Hate to see Bomba go down and our Kickoff specialist also appears to have been injured. Big drop off from kicker 1 to kicker two. Good to see the young guys get in, very excited to see Martin develop, that kid runs hard.

Alabama probably has 88k show up for a scrimmage. They are also a football school that has, what, 5-6 national titles in the last 15 years? And probably a dozen conference titles in the same time. I’m surprised they only get 88k for their games.

Brilliant scheduling? You got to be kidding me. You can schedule more attractive games for fans and players, that still easily winnable without scheduling that.

I was impressed by Western Illinois for an FCS team. Strange to feel that in a massive blowout and their second blowout loss in a row.. But their guys kept playing hard. Not a lot of hanging their heads. Made some good blocks and some good plays. Looked pretty well coached too. Just me spitballing without coaching football experience, just a fan. They'll end their losing streak pretty soon. As long as they aren't too beat up already. First year coach starting with the meat grinder part of the schedule. They're in a weaker league now expected to suit them better.
