No president has the ability to do whatever they want. They’re all constrained by the Constitution, by Congress, by statutory law, by case law.
They all claim a “mandate.” But it’s never a real thing. Reagan won 49 states in 1984. But he also had a Democratic majority in the House all 8 years. And that limited what he could get done.
Trump has a ~3 seat House majority. He’ll get TCJA extended, but almost certainly in a modified form. Anything beyond that is a crapshoot.
POS Biden refused SS protection for RFJ Jr and he was running for President. He only gave it to him after he was embarrassed by media reports.

I wouldn't think tariffs alone could do it, but I'd like to see a combination of them, a national sales tax, and a lower flat tax rate to take away the progressive tax code, which has all kinds of loopholes.

I think the "mandate" thing is based on the idea that if a Prez can get 50%+ of the vote, he can claim that America supports his agenda, and has more leverage in pushing it.
I'm not sure it's ever really been true. But it's not about authority, Constitutional or otherwise, it's about political capital.

I think there are some in this board who would embrace arresting transgender and/or homosexuals. They embrace the most violent from January 6 being given a voice in government. Seems for many on this board, the more shitty the response from Trump the better.
I believe, right or wrong, the more we shine a light on race trannies etc the worse. So if Harris makes everything about race it incites a natural gag reflex on the right to push back.
