The Triple B

The so called "Big Beautiful Bill" is not at all fiscally conservative. The CBO says it will increase the debt by another 3 trillion bucks over the next 10 years - that's over the increase that's already baked in! We can't keep kicking this debt can down the road.

However, here's an article on some of the provisions:

Are we doomed? Congress is showing no interest in attacking deficits and debt.

This guy is getting raked over the coals for admitting he didn't read the whole bill. Probably not something you should be admitting.

There are only 3 people in Congress that are serious about the debt (and two are from Kentucky).

If this bill passed under a Bush or Romney (and make no mistake they would sign off on it) most “conservatives” would point to the 10 or so provisions that would be considered wins and forget about the debt.

Not this conservative.

I seem to remember you supporting the infrastructure bill on the not so distant past. No conservative should have supported that bill.
I supported an infrastructure bill because we needed it, not that it was a great one. However, Trump promised one his entire first term and never delivered. I sure as hell didn't support the misnamed inflation control act or whatever it was called.

Was going to post this in the DOGE thread, but it applies here as well.

Interesting discussion about reforming government. Cowen, the interviewer, suggests mabye the chaos from DOGE is necessary to accomplish what is needed. Also suggestions from a senior Air Force official about cutting the military budget by 50% to make it better.

Did it add to the deficit?

End all military aid?

Of course, because Congress doesn't do their jobs. An infrastructure was needed big time because our infrastructure was badly deteriorated. President Trump failed to deliver one during his term despite promising to do it. You don't think it was needed? President Trump claimed he did.

A classic example of the need was this bridge in Cincy. In 2016 Trump promised to pass an infrastructure bill to replace this disaster of a bridge. That infrastructure bill had money for it and it is starting this summer.

I thought you were fiscally conservative? How could you support such a bill?

Cincinatti needs another bridge. I almost always get stuck in traffic if I go through Cincy. I'm taking the bypass, which is a long one, many times now. At least traffic is moving.

We must rebuild our infrastructure. It's a mess. How could you not support that? As a fiscal conservative, I would have been looking for cuts to pay for it. Congress doesn't do that. Not even our fellow Republicans in Congress. Congress is a fiscal disaster.

Then you should ask your congressman to vote against the bill until it is paid for. It’s the fiscally conservative thing to do.

No, it isn't. You want bridges to fail and roads to be total crap? I'm driving down the highway a few years ago and hit a huge pothole which screwed up my alignment and bent an expensive wheel. Cost me quite a bit to fix. Infrastructure absolutely had to be addressed. It has been. Our frickin' Representatives and Senators should do their jobs and pay for these things.

You know how much waste and crap is in that bill. Please. How much shit will never be built. Our gov sucks. Charging stations ever get built? Are we on the 30 year plan? Your disdain for Trump has made you far from any poster to take seriously. You’re best left fighting with Lucy. At least Lucy brings a chuckle

How do you get something without paying for it. The bill was shit and should have never seen the President’s desk. Not enough fiscal conservatives in Congress.

As long as we continue to let things like this go because of a perceived “need”…the longer the can gets kicked down the road

Is there ever a perfect bill? This has absolutely NOTHING to do with Trump.

You do know that the BBB is going to increase debt by 3 trillion over 10 years, right?

Paid for like everything else - on credit. I hate it and I want it fixed, but our Representatives and Senators aren't serious about it.

You used Trump in your posts at least 2 times when referencing the infrastructure bill. You made it about Trump
I referenced him because he promised fixing infrastructure and he didn't. I wish he had. I would have given him credit for it.

You just gave up the ghost. There are very few infrastructure projects that should require Federal funding.

Interstates, national borders, maybe ports. Certainly not 1.2 trillion dollars worth. The fact that something inconveniences you look immediately to the federal government to solve it shows you are a statist. What you are advocating for is the very antithesis of federalism.

You’re a fraud. Not a conservative in any way, shape or form.

And U.S. infrastructure issues are massively overblown.

Far and away the best in the world for a country of our land mass and geographical diversity.

And to make things worse what you supported ended up turning into a green energy, pork filled, DEI cluster**** like any person could have told you from the beginning.

Get out of here.

Reform is definitely needed. I’m of the opinion it’s all busted. These big stupid bills. And I get why. Efficiency. Horse-trading. It’s the only way anything gets done at this point or we’d forever be at an Impasse with a finite amount of time to get shit done but it is not a good thing.

Just STFU, you little piece of shit. You're an idiot and I have no desire to converse with you.

Not if it added to the debt. You lambasted the budget bill (and rightly so) because it added to the debt (that was your sole reason)…yet you support an infrastructure bill that adds to the debt.

This is simple. I absolutely hate that we're running huge deficits and that we're increasing the debt. I think we agree. There are also some things that government must spend on, like infrastructure. To pay for it, Congress should be cutting something else. They're not and that's the problem.

Given your arguments here, shouldn’t you be arguing why the things in BBB are not needed? You just admitted running a deficit is acceptable to you as long as it’s needed.

What government bill is ever sold without it being needed by the way?

So, you apparently want all our infrastructure to crumble and become dangerous and unusable.
Its principal. If you want something then you pay for it. If we want to provide foreign aid then we should pay for it. If we want to fix Infrastructure then you pay for it.

I guess you can support printing more money but I’m not sure that’s the fiscally conservative way

Why should the federal government spend on infrastructure without interstate or national border implications?

Make a conservative argument for it. I dare you.

Apparently, you guys aren't understanding me. I don't like deficits at all, but we have them. I don't like the debt, but we have it. We need Congress to do what is needed and get rid of what isn't needed. We need to be realists - it's not going to happen immediately. It'll take years to get out of this mess.

Once again, STFU. I think you're a ****ing idiot and I have no desire at all to converse with you. What you said about Bing isn't acceptable. Really, just STFU.
