Fred and I are the same age. I genuinely like my job but as soon as it becomes financially feasible for me to retire I plan to do so. If I had a job that requires the number of hours Fred puts in and I had his financial security, I would have already retired. Most folks I know who have the means to retire at age 60 do so willingly, without regard to what might be unpleasant about their job.
Speculating on his motives only proves your hysteria.
