Reportedly, some of his family have talked to the Commissioner's office in hopes of removing him from the ineligible list. I think they want him to be in the Hall of Fame, even though it will be after his death. I his family will be there if it happens.

If the Commissioner's office removes those who pass away for the ineligible list or announces those on the list are eligible after they die, I suppose Shoeless Joe Jackson would be eligible. If you look at the stats of that World Series, it's hard to believe that Shoeless Joe was trying to lose. His stats were very good. I think he knew the other players were tanking it through and didn't report it.

While I would definitely like to see Rose in the Hall - I don’t believe his gambling ever impacted his effort to win or lose games; his lying about it seems to be a greater sticking point - I really don’t want something like this to be seen as a gateway for the ‘Roids crew - McGwire, Bonds, Sosa, Clemens - to be absolved/forgiven/reinstated. The latter misfits did much more to ruin the integrity of the game.

Given how MLB has jumped in bed with the gambling industry it seems a little hypocritical to keep Rose in the lowest ring of Purgatory.

McGwire, Bonds and Clemens were always favorites of mine. None of them needed to do steroids to be great. They were already great. Tragic.

Baseball is actually on the rise both with mlb attendance and in youth participation. Outreach has helped immensely as well as rule changes to improve pace - tho it pains me to write it
