The New Indiana Flips Indy DE Tyrone Burrus

Baller stated we would and that was one of the sticking points with JuJu.
It's interesting. We will lose Rourke to graduation but still have Jackson, Mendoza and Cherry. We look to be trying to flip that other QB and then bring in a other one in the portal. That leads me to guess we either are preparing for attrition, or really want a long depth chart at QB.

Yeah, that was kinda the discussion when Baller brought it up. Does this say something about Jackson, or is it that they want 2 QB's with a lot of game experience, always on the roster?

In a perfect world the coaching staff sees Jackson as our starter, and Cherry as his heir apparent. That said, they'd be crazy to not bring in an experienced transfer if they find one. They also need to bring in a 4* HS QB every year. That's how big time programs operate. Rourke was a diamond, so I doubt we find someone as accomplished again, but a guy that has started and won games in college is the minimum I think the staff will be looking for in the portal.

As a CG resident and fan, I can assure you we’ve got a good one in Cherry. He’ll be a Roark look-alike when he gets his chance. In the meantime, Tayven has grown up and improved dramatically in one year with this staff.

Lastly, I’ll get a good, up-close look at our newest recruit tomorrow night when CG travels to Warren.

Let us know what you think. Our coaches have really felt he has an absolute atmosphere as a ceiling.

Scholarships are increasing, so why not try and get the most important position on the field more talent.

The plan has been for a while now to get a portal qb. They've gone back and forth on a high school kid had it not been Juju. We know where they stand now.

I think you hit it on the head with the last question.

They don't want to go into next year with basically Jackson and then 2 redshirt qbs who have only had mop up duty.

If Jackson were to get hurt, I'm sure they have confidence in both Cherry and Mendoza, but they'd be another injury from our backup being a wide receiver or running back.

Four is the barebones minimum a team should have, 5, if you can keep everyone happy, is probably ideal.

A healthy Spring/Summer QB competition never hurt anybody. Actually, bringing in an experienced QB probably pushes Tayven to be even better.

Makes total sense...as I was writing it, I figured that would be the reason.

You actually need like 6 or 7 so you have competent guys to run the scout team offenses. You don't want your 3rd or 4th string QB running scout team every week. That's for walk on QB's that will probably never play, but are a necessity for practice.

Rosters are going to be locked at 105 SCHOLARSHIP players next year.

If a team can help it, walk-ons are going to be far and few between.
