This is the correct answer. Being able to dunk when no one else is on the court doesn’t qualify someone for a roster spot in the best basketball league in the world.
Neither could Meadowlark Lemon or Curly Neal.
Their career record is awful if you exclude the Washington Generals

My guess is he thinks Mac Mclung should be on a roster and getting some PT because he is the 3x dunk contest champion. I have not watched Mac play, so I honestly couldn't assess whether or not he deserves a shot. Given some of the other low effort guys in the league, I'd think he should have a chance - but maybe he already has?
Also, while dunks are still the most entertaining element of basketball, the game has become a 3pt shootout. In his career, he has shot it at a 35.7% clip from deep, on not that many attempts. I'm not sure how that stacks up and how his defense is.
You're probably right. I was curious about why td was butthurt enough to start a thread about it.
From what I've read, he's too short, not a good shooter, not a good enough ball handler, his defense is poor, and he needs to have the ball in his hands to be worth anything, but he's not good enough to have the ball.
BTW, who do you consider some of the "low effort guys" who are in the NBA? I guess there could be some on the bench, but I never hear about them. I would think low effort would be a ticket to the G league or Europe.

Mac McClung is on a two way contract this year with Orlando that has played a grand total of 5 minutes.

I don't watch much NBA action, but I've recently been to a few Twolves games. Guys always refuse to run the floor for transition D or not get out to the 3-point line on defense, particularly when it's not the fourth quarter. Part of the reason I enjoy watching college more is that the effort level is much higher. There may be an enormous talent gap, but I see guys trying to close out and hustle much more than in the NBA.
It's reverse racism in the NBA, that's my point. How can this kid be the best dunker of all basketball possibly ever, yet can't even get on the bench of a NBA team?

Fact: the dunk is the most popular play in basketball, particularly the show boating NBA.
Fact: Mac McClung is the best dunker of a basketball in the WORLD.
Considering the above to be accurate, the NBA looks like poo-poo.
There is zero reason, ZERO, why he should be on an NBA all star team, when he's played one NBA game all year because he's a good dunker.

And dunking isn't even the most desired trait. If a team had to decide if they wanted the best 3 pt shooter or the best dunker, they would choose the former every time.

Breakaway fast break dunks always get the hometown crowd roaring. To the contrary I find slam dunk contests boring.

Thus, a player who can deliver a dunk when the occasional opportunity presents itself isn't as useful as a player as one who can also provide a more strategic approach to scoring by executing a layup.
My kind of team is one which presents the defense with an open court three-point threat while at the same time having players who can drive to the basket and execute a layup. The old fashioned two-point layup and a free throw turns me on.

The best way to get in Knight's doghouse was to miss a dunk. A higher percentage layup was preferred.
No offense, but I don't think the "Matt McClung is the victim of reverse racism" is the conservative hill you should die on. Simply put, if the kid had a good handle and a 3 point shot in his repertoire he would be on an NBA roster for nothing else as a second unit spark kind of player. As it is, other than his freakish athleticism in relation to his size, he doesn't have anything else in his toolbelt.
