The Biden administration ending with executive orders is stupid politics.

My best friend lives in Chicago. Edibles biz. Cortez and I have a very close friend who lives on the same block. I stayed an entire summer in Chicago. I have been to Chicago ten thousand times. Done properly a French dip might be my favorite food. I have never had an Italian beef in Chicago and of any food in the world it is number one on my list to try
Best Italian Beef sandwich according to me and my wife is actually available at Manley’s Irish pub at 10th and Shadeland in Indy.

I will have to try it. I love Portillo's but that is through a mathematic formula known as "an average Italian beef is better than any food not found in a Mexican restaurant." I need to open a Mexican beef sandwich restaurant.

Fat Dan's has been in Bloomington several years and fits that same formula.

Manley’s has very yummy spicy giardiniera, and you can get a side of tater tots there. They blanket it in provolone. Place is or was owned by aunt/uncle of ex-Colts tight end Jack Doyle. As you might expect very Catholic crowd. Whole menu pretty yummy for bar grub.

I’m glad there are still people who recognize the obvious.

This is like Hoosiers who complained about a Spanish company leasing the Indiana Toll Road - on the basis that they’re Spanish.

As if they were going to dig the road up and move it to i.
I hate driving the Toll Road.

After Spanish leased it a complete nightmare--NW IN no toll booth attendants, mile-long lines because no one can figure how to pay or what to pay, some exits completely dark.

Try Portage gate on a weekend.
"If it ain't broke don't fix it."

Sounds like the state should exercise their rights in the lease contract.

Prior to a rally in Pittsburgh area shortly before the election... The local leader met with Trump and encouraged him not to mention scuttling the deal at the rally as a lot of the workers in attendance had come around to supporting it. Trump didn't mention it during that rally, but 'gut-punched' them with his post election December statement.
I feel like someone should have told them Trump is lying piece of shit. Oh, wait…

They f****d around, now let them find out.

Yes, spices. And if you are smart you will get it wet, ie, pre-dipped. It is best when the bread has lost all structural integrity.
That sounds amazing. I’m going to go to Portillos or whatever it is this summer. In the meantime get your chili pot ready. Thundersnow tomorrow. I went to the grocery store last night and the line looked like Covid times

Yes, I have. I’m a foodie…so it’s a must watch.

And it is also a good reminder why I don’t want to come within a mile of having anything to do with owning (much less running) a business in food-and-beverage service.

Very high risk, limited returns even if you are successful, and excruciatingly high workload. No thank you.
No Pepe’s but they do have some New Haven apizza and they have John’s of bleeker. Wonder if it’d be shitty reheated

I said at the women's game today that it was a great crowd given how many people were standing in line for loaves of milk and gallons of bread. The stores are crazy.

On general principle I don't like Chicago, too many region rats in my crew. But between Italian beef, the Chicago dog, and Lou Malnati's, it does have really good food.

Oh I know about the region lol. Chicago might be the best city in America for three months of the year. The rest pass

FWIW I disagree on the predipping. There's a point where they can get too sloppy.

Important thing is they aren't wimpy. They need to have some serious heat.
French dip. Bread roast beef. Au jus. So spices are the difference Marv says to make it Italian beef

As for pre dipping I love both. Sopping wet where the bread is falling apart and firmer.

This is the best one in town here. French dip. Pretty wet. Incredible fried mushrooms with lemons too

Not just spices IMO a proper Italian beef also has a heavy dose of gardiniera.

I don't think those words mean what you think they do.

My wife has taken to getting just the dip and bread, skip the meat. The dip is where the flavor lays, along with the hot peppers. Mind you I still prefer the beef with it. But I should just order a cup of juice for my drink.

I’d be wary of trying this, honestly. I’d do it - don’t get me wrong.

But I wouldn’t want my first and only impression of a world class icon of pizza to be at all diminished from the genuine article.

Huh? Nippon was going to put like $3B into improvements of the existing aged USS facilities in Gary and PA. Something that seems unlikely now. I'm guessing both those facilities will be gone a decade from now.
What they say regarding investment sounds wonderful. What usually happens…Assets change hands. Control is shifted. Nothing productive is accomplished. Been trending that way for 20+years

The way to make a small fortune in the restaurant business…start with a large one.
