Good read.

Hemingways last sought-after meal appears to have been a NY strip, baked potato, Caesar salad, and glass of Bordeaux. Pretty good.

You get three items and a drink. List your favorite simple meal.
Hmm.

1. Smoked Meatloaf
2. Asparagus
3. Scalloped potatoes
4. A fine Haut Medoc or Fullers London Pride Pale Ale

Liver, fava beans, and nice chianti

I mean if your previous comment wasn't an invitation it was certainly, at least, a knowing glance.
I would offer you this nugget of wisdom on this glorious July 29, 2024: You were an uninvited a guest, and a socially inappropriate pop in today. Just a drive by double entendre guy now.... 😂

It's difficult to top my wife's homemade red sauce and meatballs over a bowl of spaghetti.
Do you have problems grating parmesan or something?

In all seriousness, does she use butter in the red sauce? Somebody taught me this "trick" to tone down the acidity and it's amazing.

No butter. I know Marcella Hazan's recipe includes butter, but not in my wife's family recipe. And especially not now as our son cannot have dairy.

Never heard of this. Time to Google!

My wife's buffalo wings with a side of blue cheese dressing. I don't know what she does, but they just hit different.
Fresh corn on the cob
A caprese salad with sliced tomatoes fresh from the wife's garden (garden California tomatoes are awesome @Morrison )
Mixed berries
Anderson Valley Boont Amber

For those who enjoy a caprese salad (and you've convinced me to change my garden salad to the following), a suggestion:

get a loaf of french bread and slice it diagonally, dip both sides in olive oil, and grill it (about a minute a side). Then layer a leaf of basil, a slice of fresh tomato (I prefer heirloom), and a slice of fresh buffalo mozzarella, secure with a toothpick, and drizzle olive oil over it. It's really good (and works without the mozzarella if you don't have it). Think I first learned of it from Steve Raichlen (The Master).

Send an address. That’s my daughter’s perfect meal. We rate them on her phone around the city. Very discerning. Very critical judge

Or, if you just want Marcella's recipe:

If you're looking for a definitive cookbook of a culinary style and require an author who is also a chef with a more than ample bosom, may I suggest the following

My favorite cookbook is "Cooking with Two Fat Ladies". First, it is an amazing show that used to be on. Second, these endomorphic but beautiful women create some amazing meals:

Once I saw this video, I never make a Italian red sauce. A Bolognese sauce is the way to go. It's so good that this sauce subsequently became my new base for Chili as well, just substituting beef stock for water in the cook down stages and adding chili powder as an ingredient.

Awesome! May it also pay dividends to you.
She loves to cook. We enjoy time in the kitchen together. My outlook is very positive on this decision. I once bought my mom a first baseman's glove and felt the same way about that choice though. I doubt if wifey will humor me the way my mom humored 10 year old me. I'll report back on the results.

I'm all in on this--looks incredible. I don't eat pasta, but I will enjoy making it for everyone.

Life is too short to only eat Bolognese sauce. There a lot of Italian “red” sauces for pasta besides the classic tomato sauce.

And don’t sleep on pesto. I’ve already made o e batch this summer (using homegrown basil) and will make at least two more batches before summer is done. I’ll have about 8-10 three ounce containers in the freezer come October

Pesto instead red sauce on a pizza is something I need to thank wifey for more often. Pesto, chicken, mushrooms and onions.

We have Flour Water Salt on the bookshelf. Worth the addition?
Toss-up, since the one you have has a great section on pizza. His pizza book covers quite a few more styles. His simple pizza sauce (which I’m pretty sure is in the book you have) is comically good for being ridiculously simple.

Ever watch The Pizza Show on TV? Only two seasons from several years ago but I love that series.

Haven’t made pizza in a while since our son had to go dairy free.

Yep that show was great. My daughter and I watch a ton of food shows. What we’ve concluded is that no matter how many times the local rags call us a foodie town the food here mostly sucks. Pizza is possibly the worst of anywhere

Isn’t there like some sort of weird cheese that “St Louis pizza” is made from?
