The Ballo fiasco silver lining........

This is a reasonable position. Unfortunately I am little further down the negative path. Losing helps us get rid of Woodson as a coach and I do not see a positive path forward until he is gone.
I just can't root for IU to lose, but I expect it and agree, CMW gets fired if we do and that's for the better. I don't see anyway this teams rights itself enough even to make the tourney, but that's my question: is making the tourney enough to save his job? I don't think it should be with the way this team has played and the character of the team (Gallo gambling til late and Ballo out late the night of a game), but would there be anyone who "counts" who would say he deserves another year? I don't think so, but it's possible.

If we continue to struggle for another couple weeks, then the team surges at the end, and breaks their way in to the tournament as a 9-11 seed...I STRONGLY suspect there will be many that praise him for it.

I just hope Dolson doesn't "fall for" another fools gold run like he had in years 2 and 3.

Would you hire the man if you were searching now? That answer, for anyone, would be a resounding NO. So, without any real buyout concerns, the decision should have already been made. And really ANY finish to the season should be irrelevant.

Whoever posted the picture of Ballo out is a snitch. We would run into bball players out at the bars any and every weekend. I don't remember if they would have a game the next day but still.... I would never, in a million years, rat one of them out for a few clicks on twitter. WTF.
I'm trying not to make this whole thing bigger than it probably is...but our fans, students included, are showing with their lack of attendance and enthusiasm, that they don't revere this basketball team like many/most of our past teams. The more disgruntled fans you have, the chances increase of someone wanting to "catch" our players doing things like going to bars, drinking, smoking, etc...

No issue with players being out, but come on you have to see the distinction of being out the night before a game.
Even that, alone, isn't really a huge issue for me. But obviously, there's either more to the story, or that was a specific team rule or something that he violated.

We don't know if he was drinking... Maybe he was just picking up a friend or something... Being at a bar at 1230, on a Saturday night, game or no game the next day, isn't really abnormal. Why he was there, what he was doing, what are the team rules and expectations...those are the unknown details that make it important. And we don't really know them. Heck, I guess we don't even know if him being out at the bar is the actual reason why he sat out of the game?

But, we aren't good right now. Lunardi doesn't even have us on his radar in his latest Bracketology...astonishingly bad start to the season for this group. So things like this are gonna get scrutinized more heavily.

The issue IMO is that there is no context. People assume what they want to. People here saying he was "hammered" , PU trolls saying he hurt his leg falling down the stairs wasted.

The photo is fine, just provide context so that accurate understanding is used.

When it is IU, it is gonna get noticed big time. Noticed and used to feed whatever narrative someone has.

Ant Wright who as we know played at Michigan said he would never be out the night before a game per their team rules. That’s the reference point I’m using, and yes that’s a different program, but rules like this are probably similar across programs.

Maybe there is a good explanation, though I doubt it, especially given Woody’s comments. And I don’t think this is a big deal, but it’s another bad sign with this program.

Oh I agree. Just a lot of assumptions being made. But if the suspension is related to Ballo being out late at a bar, I think that likely implies he wasn't just there picking someone up.

And also agree it doesn't really matter what happened, or why he was suspsended...at this point, it looks bad for Ballow and Woodson and his program.

So, what exactly is the fiasco? Let's assume that he was indeed benched for going to a bar. OK, why is that a fiasco? Is it because he went to a bar? (Holy shit. I can't imagine a college kid doing that.) Is it because he sat a game as punishment? (Holy shit, he was disciplined.)

As if none of that ever happened under prior coaches.
Read the original post. It has garnered national attention and certainly not in a positive way.
You think nothing but bad press helps recruiting outside IN (and we don't do well in state)?
But hey, it wasn't discipline, I thought the poor kid had to sit because of an undisclosed lower leg injury.

Yea, the assumptions beyond he was out late at Upstairs have no basis and aren’t appropriate.

Got snitched on, huh? Right, because Ballo would’ve otherwise blended right in with all the other 7’0” 260lb black guys out at the bars that night.

Has it been confirmed anywhere, or by CMW that it was a suspension? I thought he was listed as questionable for the UTC game, so I took it to mean he couldn't play; as in possibly hungover. Wouldn't change my overall views, but I'd be encouraged to hear he was suspended.

Nothing has been confirmed anywhere. The team sucks and there isn't thing else to complain about. Things will heat up by 8:45 tonight and be back on track after TG throws it away a couple times and MR is on the bench with his second bad foul.

For the record, there's lots to complain about. This has been a brief distraction from the mess that shows up on the court.

Dude is getting paid.
Fair game in 2025 ~

Nothing but Woodson gone brings me back.
A big title? Natty?
He just seems the wrong guy

B10 title and/or Natty would be amazing. Depending on how the B10 title were to happen, at some point I’d flip and be very excited for the games, I’m sure. And I’d be beyond excited, probably 2nd round on, if he made a Natty run.

But after the season, I would still hope for a coaching change.

I see a positive if Dolson retains the authority to make the decision.

They would be bitching no matter the circumstances. As long as they can bash IU they are happy. Total shit "fans"
They are not bashing IU, rather they’re bashing an unqualified coaching staff hired by a clueless BOT influenced by a member with an agenda. I have lost all respect for Woodson and Buckner. Their legacy has been severely tarnished.

This may strike you as news, but there a thing called Google.
When your universe is local media or only non-critical thinkers, you have a rather myopic understanding of most everything.
I’m on Twitter, roughly 325 times a day and follow a ton of national folks. I haven’t seen any mention of that suspension or our basketball program in general by any national people since the Bahamas.

Again, I respectfully request that you let me know what outlets on the national side are covering this suspension and our program in general that I’m missing

It's death by a thousand cuts. Ballo out the night before a game is just another cut, as was Gallo's blackjack game the night before, as was multiple other examples during Woodson's tenure.

Galloway at the blackjack table late into the night was debunked, I was told. It was clearly him at the blackjack table, but it was during the day is what I was told. Hence the timestamp on the photo having been removed before it was posted.

OK, then any of the whiny bullshit on social media, or the crap that X did, or Mack's taco bell incident, or the constant blowout losses, or Woodson's stupid comments about 3 point shots, or the constant talk about the hump, or not being able to get recruits, or 1 tournament win, or the struggles against 200 or worse cupcakes, or the chill out comments on senior day, or whatever else just magnifies the dogshit play and conference record during the last 3.5 seasons.

Wow, you're still on "X" 325 times a day, you need to get a life my friend. I'm sure "Leon" and DJT appreciate your dedication

This is a bad post. You are referencing stuff that isn't true. Go to a game and watch, rather than forming opinions on nonsense.

Woody doesn't win and has proven that he can't build a roster despite having the necessary resources in place. That's it. It's time to move on.

Fellow patrons could have just "Observed". Instead they "Observed and Reported." Right, wrong or indifferent, that is a snitch. No one was in danger or committing a crime.

I'm not defending Ballo. I'm just disappointed with the "gotcha" angle.
