In fairness to Allen (and Indiana has been overly fair to Allen) next year's schedule is ridiculous. Almost all of those teams are more talented than IU and would be upsets if we won the game. Indiana's goal should be the get to the head of the pack of the teams that are in their league (Purdue, Illinois, Rutgers, Maryland). The problem is there are too many teams that they play that would be major upsets to beat. Winning five games is going to be tough no matter who the coach is. It's a ridiculous schedule. Michigan's is also crazy difficult. They want be running the table any more.
When you are the #16 in a 16 school league, every opponent is going to look formidable. Fans and admin thought we could skate by putting out a lousy product waiting for basketball.
Welp….they gambled on the wrong sport. This is a football conference. IU has to put major effort into it. Now that the bball program has settled into its middle pack perennial finish, the school has nothing to hang its hat on. The Olympic sports that don’t bring in revenue. Take care of your cash cow, IU.
