That block hit the glass first

Was obvious live. Was doubly obvious on replay.

Add that to all the missed FTs.... including front end of 1 on 1s, what could have been a halftime lead is a 7 PT hole.

And Romeo puts up a goose egg and a couple turnovers.

I was shocked Guss and Jackson didn't point it out... how do you miss that?

Personally I'm sick of Morgan missing free throws... STRAIGHTEN OUT YOUR FRIGGIN FEET..... how do the coaches allow him to stand like that?

Romeo doing nothing for his draft status...

Honestly don’t think most of these announcers know the rules. I’ve seen the same block of the glass a few times this year and announcers rarely point it out.

Purdue fan here. I was surprised it wasn't called a goaltend. Something didn't look right live.

Also, I don't understand Morgan's feet either. He has a nice shot outside of free throws. Why do something so drastic?

Yes, seriously. It wasn't THAT obvious live. Questionable, but not obvious. Jesus, you're seriously going to argue with me when I come here to say you guys were right. WTF

I'm calling you out for your interpretation of bang-bang. I umpired a lot of baseball and that term is used to define a call that could easily go either way. In this case the shot was clearly rejected after banking off the glass...at full speed. It was not even close to bang-bang.

Unless I am reading the rule incorrectly the basketball touching the backboard has nothing to do with goaltending, the ball has to be on it’s downward flight and can be blocked after it has touched the backboard. If the ball was on it’s downward flight after touching the backboard then yes, it would be goaltending!

100% correct. Does nobody work with these guys?
This is elementary.

Blind incompetent refs
When Romeo gets 2 fouls in the first 3 minutes, it is going to be an 8 on 5 kind of night. Romeo was fouled by multiple players on some of his drives, nothing from the refs. The refs let PU play a football game at Mackey like they always do. Edwards better have 2 quick fouls at Assembly Hall as a makeup.

If the ball hits the backboard, it is considered to be on its downward flight once it is above the rim. You can block the ball if it’s still below the rim.

That is an incorrect interpretation of the rule and the rule book has an emphasis on that stating exactly what I posted!

This right from the rule book.

“When the ball contacts the backboard and any part of the ball is above the rim during a field goal attempt, it is considered to be on its downward flight. In such a case, it is goaltending when the ball is touched by a player as long as it has a possibility of entering the basket.”

Not sure about the block discussed above whether the ball was above the rim.

I think you are reading to the rule incorrectly, or not all of it.

Purdue always gets to be handsy on defense up there. How many push offs did Edward's have to go with some very questionable offensive fouls the other way? To the refs credit, they mostly let both teams play. IU could not defend the pick and roll (much more difficult on moving screens), missed a TON of FT's (most of which looks like fundamentals I feel like I could easily fix if anyone would listen), couldn't hit shots, lack a size (especially with Davis hurt....I don't understand why we can't play Moore at the 5 against some bigger teams. Morgan has to work too hard and its showing. Smith isn't a 4, and I understand the mismatch idea, but he doesn't have the strength to defend bigger guys), are playing a very short bench with injuries, and are in the midst of one of the toughest stretches of anyone in the country. Can't really blame the refs....
