Sure we should go hire

Wait? Purdue has the worst fan base in America? You're right, we're the program whose run off 5 coaches in 20 years. You're right, we're the program with delusional and unrealistic expectations. Ya'll missed the tournament more times than you made it the last 10 years. Don't let facts hurt your feelings kid.
Douchebag, PU sucks!

Like Marshall in WSU, he is not going to turn down a nice contract. I think he'll leave for Austin in a heartbeat if/when that opportunity presents itself. That is his destination location. The RMK style will go with Beard when he moves on. If Tech is his destination location they wouldn't have had to give him this contract that targets the Longhorns with a double the buyout clause for switching to a school within the conference.
Good catch on the buyout. It would cost Texas $16.3 plus a salary higher than he's getting now to hire him. The purpose? Not to make it difficult, rather to make it impossible. Both parties signed the contract extension willingly.

It's purely an insurance policy for Texas Tech and a smart, but risky move. I doubt Beard is a fluke, but if he doesn't pan out and things go south, that's a lofty buyout to make him go away.

Purdue is in the same situation with Brohm. He's paid like a top 10 coach but is only .500 after 2 years. Brohm is almost unpoachable now unless someone like Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio State, or Michigan comes calling or perhaps the NFL.

Absolutely the worst. Our troubles are temporary in the sense of how long our program has had success. A Helms title and conference titles are nice, but success on a national stage is more than the Purdue fan can imagine. You can't tell me what it is like to go undefeated or win an NCAA title on a final shot. What does it feel like to watch your team play in an NCAA Title game with the entire sports world watching? You don't know and likely will never know. You aren't getting there with 3 star talent. Purdue was more dominant before WWII and still never won a true National Championship. Purdue had 10 years to rise to a high point due to IU's trouble and didn't take advantage.

Anyone that has ever won an NCAA title shakes their head in disbelief when someone like you tries to compare programs. Purdue does well in conference play. Nobody considers them more than that.

IU is a national program that has been down since Sampson screwed the program and we hired a bad coach. We have a coach that understands what a team needs to win. It will take time, but we have a fan base that isn't satisfied with just B1G titles. We want to build a program that competes with the best of all the conferences, not just in our region.

Win something!

You haven't had national success in THIRTY YEARS. Our 3* talent is blowing your team out of the water. We've been to the second weekend of the tournament the last three years. You've been to the second weekend of the tournament 4 times in 25 years! None of the kids considering IU know what that feeling is like either BECAUSE NONE OF THEM WERE BORN THE LAST TIME INDIANA WAS NATIONALLY RELEVANT. Outside one fluke run to the title game beating a 12, 13, and 10 seed your program has done nothing on the national stage since the early 90s.

Who from Purdue's fan base is content with just B10 titles? You guys can't even make the tournament on a regular basis and you want to call yourself a national program? Your program is a has been and everybody outside of your fan base gets that.

Thanks for admitting that beating IU is the highest goal Purdue has. The goal of every little brother to someday beat their older and stronger big brother.

Little brother has dominated your ass. Not just all-time, but in the last 10 years and it isn't close. Little brother or not, we know which program is better and that's all that matters. Start making the tournament and then we'll talk.

You left out the overwhelming #1 seed in the tournament. Assclown.

In the time frame you set, it has been to an Elite Eight and two Final Fours, including a national championship game. Yes, the last 15 years have been pretty rough but in the last 30 years they've twice gotten farther than Purdue ever got in that same time frame.

That still doesn't make you a nationally relevant program. Recruits growing up today don't see Indiana as a nationally relevant program nor should they. They see an entitled fan base who thinks they are better than they really are. They see a hypocritical bunch who thinks they're above anything other than 5 national championships that happened decade(s) before they were born that can't even make the tournament that crowns a national champion with any kind of regularity. Sad affairs in Bloomington.

Check again. NCAA title game in 2002. Ranked #1 in 2013 despite having Tom Crean as a coach. The rest of your post is garbage. Even while we are in our worst period of success, we can rise to a level better than Purdue can reach.

Why do you think IU draws Duke and UNC every year for the ACC/B1G Challenge regardless of success while Purdue plays a less popular and successful program? I'll help you with the answer. IU is a program with tradition and people will tune in to watch. Purdue is not a team a national audience wants to watch.

I won't read another post of yours. A moderator might do everyone else a favor and make it permanent.

I’m catching more than a whiff of sour grapes and jealousy. It’s okay lil’ bro.

What does any of that have to do with the fact that your program is a disgrace. Name a nationally relevant program who has missed the tournament 3 consecutive years, let alone 7 in 11 years? Your hey day is over and has been over. Keep getting embarrassed by Duke on national television, does that really help you sleep better at night?

You obviously misunderstood my point. Like u said, the last 15 or so years have been rough. My point was that Purdue isn't relevant either. As bad as it's been for IU, they've twice gotten farther in the tournament in the time frame you chose and achieved time matched Purdue's best. You're the one that brought up 30 years, not I.

How is Purdue not more nationally relevant than IU? Purdue has had an AA the last 3 years. Purdue has won the B10 the last 2 years. Purdue has made the tournament 13 times in the last 15. What has IU done recently that even makes them remotely nationally relevant, outside talk about championships that happened 30+ years ago?

A fluke run, lol. That's something PU hasn't done since the Jimmy Carter administration. PU is a never has been. PU never does squat in the Tournament. I'm sure you recycle the same argument for Notre Dame football.

We fired the coach that sucked and pursued a better coach. That is more than I can say about PU. I'm pretty sure PU sucked pretty hard during the Keady/Painter transition as well.

Recruiting hasn't been an issue. What in the hell are you talking about?

Davis and Crean were given more than enough time to demonstrate their incompetence. If anything, IU gives its coaches too long of a leash. And yes, trolling an opposing message board for giggles is pathetic and one of several reasons Purdue has the worst fanbase in America. Deal with it, punk.
