Life in the SEC as a head baseball coach can be precarious if you don't maintain success after winning a national championship, and trying to keep up with the Joneses in that conference can be brutal. Many of the fans have short-lived memories and not much tolerance for sub-par to so-so two seasons since that 2021 national championship.

The Bulldogs lost a lot of key players to the draft after winning that championship, which usually happens to whichever team wins the championship, but they haven't been competitive in the SEC in the last two seasons since then, and there are already rumblings from fans. Here's a link to a pretty critical article from mid-May which says the program is not up to the standards of Mississippi State. The Bulldogs had a losing season after winning the 2021 CWS and was just one game over .500 this season while having back-to-back 9-21 seasons in the SEC.

Could Chris end up back in the B1G again like Tracy Smith? Who knows, but the pressure is on to turn things around next season in a conference where you are on a short leash from a success point of view.

Coach Lemonis will be back next season, but it's probably a do or die situation for him. He signed a multi-year contract extension back in 2021 and has one of the highest paid staffs in the nation.

Truth be told, I was never really a fan. Of course I was happy for him to win it, but also very surprised. He just doesn’t strike me a real go-getter as a recruiter, teacher of the game, or even a great interview or promoter of his team.
