Super Bowl food

Sadly, a protein shake. Spring break diet. I may run over to my neighbor’s party to cheat a little tho.

Cast iron skillet, butter, potatoes cut into cubes a little larger than dice, thick cut onions, start with high heat to get a crust then covered on med/low heat with salt and pepper until potatoes are done. Keep them moving while in high heat.
No boiling the potatoes first?

Edit: I just got to Crazed’s post about boiling potatoes. This is the way. Good crust, softt & pillowy inside…

Lazy alternative (not saying I endorse it, just saying it works for people who might find it useful): steam them in the microwave instead. They get soft and lose excess water, but it's quick and dirties a minimum of dishes.

Yes, but they keep the starch & get gummy, no?
They might keep more starch, but they still fry fine. At least in a deep fryer. Maybe not so good for pan fried. Didn't think of that. I honestly don't fry in oil anymore since I got the air fryer, so I probably should have kept my mouth shut.

I use the air fryer to make Cajun sweet potatoes. Peel and cube or cut into wedges, toss them in just a smidge of olive oil to lightly coat, use your favorite Cajun or blackening seasoning and air fry. So good

A crock of Italian style meatballs and marinara, a crock of little smokies, a tray of chili cheese dip with a few different types of chips, a tray of Polish mistakes, some deviled eggs and for desert a tray of cinnamon rolls and the wife made some fudge.

What's a polish mistake?

With the big game today, what's everyone doing food wise?

We're doing wings and a spicy cheese dip. Nothing exciting, good solid choices though.
We have breaded cheese sticks, garlic bread, cocktail weenies wrapped in bacon and sprinkled with brown sugar,BBQ chicken bites, and scotcheroos for dessert.
