Texas has, by far, the most gun deaths.

The top states by gun death rates are:

Mississippi -- 28.6.
Louisiana -- 26.3.
Wyoming -- 25.9.
Missouri -- 23.9.
Alabama -- 23.6.

I’ve been in Mexico for 5 weeks this year and I’ve never felt the least bit afraid. Stay out of the cartels’ business and you’ll never have a problem.

Its the same as Cape Town. If you know which areas the avoid, its heaven on Earth.

I would be too stressed to return to the States at this point. I will live in my little bubble here for now. The randomness of the violence is the scary bit.

Seriously, guns are for pu$$ies and the mentally deranged. In the US, gun culture is a mental disorder.

54% of all gun deaths were suicides? Over half? Thats mind boggling.

The Covid-19 pandemic has led to a rise in gun violence, and in January, a CNN analysis found 10 of the nation’s most populous cities set homicide records last year, mostly because of guns. The cities were: Philadelphia; Austin, Texas; Columbus, Ohio; Indianapolis; Portland, Oregon; Memphis, Tennessee; Louisville, Kentucky; Milwaukee; Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Tucson, Arizona.

I thought Austin was some laid back hippie town. Indianapolis in at #4

Indy was setting records last year but it was skewed by the mass shooting at fedex and a couple other mass shootings involving family situations.

Like with how small Uvalde is, with this shooting it’d be equivalent to Indy having like 1,400 homicides in a year.

Also, murders is a less useful stat than shootings. The difference between a shooting causing injury and one causing death can be fractions of an inch and/or prompt medical care. I’d rather be in a place with 100 shootings with 100 deaths vs one with 1,000 shootings a 10 deaths.

With that said, the violence in Indy is really sad. It was only like 15 years ago we were seeing years with “only” around 100 murders per year
