its easy to forget the way last season ended...but Indiana has a pretty good football team.

let me take you back to last year this time. the 2-1 Hoosiers who had lost a shootout to a pretty good eventually top 25 ranked bowl team in Bowling Green on the road. Went in to Missouri and beat the eventual champions of the Southeastern conference on their home field.

last year. should have been the season the program turned the corner, and began a run of annual bowl appaearances.

but alas our Quarterback got injured, and the Hoosiers really didn't have a back up. 7 straight losses ensued before the bucket game and we ended up a disappointing 4-7

but even without a quarterback. the Hoosiers found a way to be competitive in most games till about half time. before the overworked defense would succumb. heck we even led the number 1 ranked and eventualy National Champion Buckeyes at the beginning of the fourth quarter. Indiana was only a healthy quarterback away from being a darn good team last year.

This year we got the quarterback back....but lost our Heisman candidate. Tevin Coleman is now in Atlanta making a living. and we were hoping beyond hope. maybe this year we could get to 6 wins and a bowl.

Maybe? to be honest. with the emergence of Jordan Howard. to me 6 wins would be an extreme disappointment. this team is fully capable of 8-10 wins.

I know its a matter of self preservation, sometimes we like to keep our hopes and expectations low, to avoid the eventual disappointment later if we don't achieve them. Like Cub fans Indiana football fans have a long history of getting their hopes up only to have their hearts broken as the snow begins to fly.

but enjoy this team while you can folks. today they go for 4-0 for the first undefeated non conference season in...well at least since Mallory maybe since Corso. and while sure there are a couple of tough teams in our half of the conference there is also a lot of only decent and poor teams too. Raise the bar Hoosier fans. forget 6. make the goal 10. if we miss it by a little so what we can live with 8 and a trip to texas or something for the holidays. But 10 is very possible. and 10 would be special. So lets shoot for that.

Agreed. And just like the team needs to learn how to win, we as fans need to learn how to expect to win. It's been a long time coming but I could really enjoy this feeling more often.

Go Hoosiers

Amen. It's clear we are on a different level than programs like Bama, OSU, etc. It's also clear our direction is up and we should all enjoy the ride and be patient. It's easy to nit pick and find fault. Heck, those power house program fans are critical of their teams because no one is perfect. I personally enjoy this winning feeling. Go Hoosiers!
