1) Walt Bell is only 38 years old. Bell went from Graduate Assistant to Assistant Head Coach in only 7 seasons. That's pretty impressive.
2) Bell already has 3 years of experience as a Head Coach and 6 years of play-calling experience (including 2021 when he called plays at UMass as Head Coach)
3) Bell coached in 10 Bowl Games between 2006 and 2016
4) Between Co-Offensive Coordinator / Wide Receivers Coach Adam Henry and Associate Head Coach / Running Backs Coach Craig Johnson there is a combined 32 years of experience coaching in the NFL.
5) TE Coach Kevin Wright was one of the best High School Head Coaches in the Country when he came to Indiana. Wright's overall head coaching record is 229-65 (.779). His resume boasts 4 state championships, 8 Top-10 National Rankings, three straight undefeated seasons, five straight Top 6 rankings nationally and 2 State Runners-up.
6) Players tutored include Saquon Barkely, Odell Beckham Jr., Anquan Blodin, Amari Cooper, Chris Johson, CeeDee Lamb, Jarvis Landry and Zach Miller.

If these guys have good chemistry and are able to collaborate and delegate effectively that can go a long way toward getting things moving back in the right direction.

I can wait to see how our new coaches and new players or ones in new positions do this season. The way the players are talking about learning new techniques from the new coaches is encouraging that this year will be better than many think.

Heck of a combined resume. Freeing up TA from feeling forced to manage the offense last year to applying his strengths where they seem to live.

Fingers crossed that the team evolves this season. Ill is a huge game

Walt Bell is the wild card. Certainly seems like a smart guy, but the proof is in the pudding and his pudding in good years has been average and in bad years terrible so I'd say I am more hopeful than optimistic.

Don't forget about the players brought in recruiting the 2022 class and the transfer portal.

Let’s throw in a senior laden roster full of hungry athletes willing to earn respect on the field.
We saw the frustration on the sideline last season …
It looks like that energy has been channeled positively in the weight room and position room work.
This was lead by the team‘s captains.
Tuttle looks ‘buff’ compared to the ‘skinny’ kid who startled v. Wisconsin.
Many are clearly ’all-in’ for team success.

I agree, I hope they come out September 2 and take it to Illinois when they have a chance to show fans what this group is capable of. There is still a lot of talent on this team, I think a very good coaching staff that can push them to be much better, and good experience from 2019 -2020 to draw upon.

This group of players has much more speed and quickness along with the feeling of needing to show fans and teams IU isn't going to go quietly into the night.
