I just read the article about Nebraska expecting 50 transfers because they currently have 150 players. Are the last 65 players all walkons? And is that illegal next year? I don’t quite understand why they’d lose that many if most of them are walkons.

Also, is the portal rule changing to a one-time only deal for immediate eligibility? Then you’ve got to sit a year if you transfer again? That’s a pretty big deal. I’m a little tired of hearing commentators mention a player who’s playing for his 4th team.

Yeah I agree it is a bit confusing. From what I understand rosters will be limited to 105 players, in which all can be on scholarship.
but that is an increase of 20 scholarships. So, I am assuming they just have a ton of walk-ons. So, they are not really transfers, really. They will just disappear back into the student population or go to Rose Hullman to play.
