There are rumblings that Mike DeWine might put Vivek in JD Vance's seat. There are also rumors that he's gearing up for a gubernatorial run in Ohio and might turn down Vance's seat.

If he actually wants a spot in government, it sounds like he definitely has options.

Desantis will be ineligible to run again in the next Florida gubernatorial election in 2026 and so he will leave office in Jan. 2027 due to FL term limits.

He apparently wants to be a Senator at that point. So if he hands it off to someone else to take Rubio's place, it might be a pre-arranged brief stint.
