Cazele was the best. Died way too young. Every movie he was in is a classic.

Yeah, he didn't have many at-bats. But he easily had the best batting average of any actor in movie history.

Dog Day is such a great yet bizarre movie.

He was not too kind with the Indiana writer and director, Pizzo and Anspaugh, though. He was very difficult during filming because he didn’t believe those two knew what they were doing. I read an interview with the two and they said there were some tense times wondering if Hackman was going to quit the production. In the end, when they had the first screening, Hackman approached them and said something like, “I don’t know how you two pulled this off.” He was shocked and pleased it turned out so well.
The montage shot of him saying something to Dennis Hopper on the bench, causing Hopper to laugh...
He apparently said something like "Hopper, I hope you've saved all your money. Because neither one of us are working again after this thing comes out."
The role earned Hopper his only Oscar nomination.

girlfriend. He was dying when they started filming Deer Hunter...I think the production /studio wanted to drop him.
She refused to do the movie without him, and DeNiro put up the insurance money for Cazele since the studio wouldn't.
They shot all his scenes first. He died before the film was released.
I forgot Birdcage. My goodness, he is fantastic in that masterpiece.
oh yeah.....that one is close to a forgotten Gene Hackman movie because of Robin Williams and Nathan Lane.
But Hackman, as the uptight neocon congressman stuck in the south beach drag club, with the press surrounding the building. I watched that when I was much younger, more uptight, figured I wouldn't like it because of the subject matter...watched the movie and had to admit, ok that was a pretty damn hilarious movie.
another one--- No Way Out. With Costner. Another very underrated movie. More big bro/spooky govt stuff.

Forgot he was in Get Shorty. Harry Zimm. Got the hell beat out of him by Dennis Farina. One of the few times he played a weak, inept character. Same movie that saw Tony Soprano get worked over by Vinny Barbarino.
She ended up marrying Don Gummer, a sculptor from Indy. He went to Ben Davis.
They were married forever, but split up a couple years ago.
That's right. It is. Many of us watched and dreamed about Hoosiers. It is hard to describe what that time period really means and it's influence on young kids all over Hoosier Nation. Hackman was an iconic actor and was perfectly cast in that role as coach. The movie Hoosiers is particularly special, and cherished by so many in the state of Indiana.
Yeah. When I was screwing around shooting baskets the fantasy game was always the IHSAA championship game and not the NCAA nor NBA. I hit so many walk off championship game shots through the years.

My ex-wife's company had a conference in Indy and she helped host. She picked up one of their sales guys at the airport, and he made her take him to Hinkle so he could see where the Hoosiers championship game was filmed.
No food or water for 2 weeks?? Maybe the dog ate pills?? Expand the mind little guy..
I guess you’d be more familiar with those things in the trailer park. Pills lying around, water getting shut off….

Nothing against the Hackmans, per se, but I think the human race has largely been a failed experiment ... so my first reaction was, "Aww, poor dog."
When we go to a movie my daughters are not bothered by a Deadpool vs Wolverine slaughter movie but…if anything happens to a dog they are crying and asking to leave. I tell them the dog always survives in movies but they still have doubts.
I still feel the way to some degree (not crying, though) ... and I'm an adult who understands no animal is being harmed.
I can watched Jason from Friday the 13th hack a hundred unsuspecting, innocent victims without batting an eye. But if I accidentally stumble upon Old Yeller, I move at Usain Bolt speed to change the channel. Hell, I even felt bad when Cujo was shot ... and he killed people.

I had a friend that had to airship his big breed dog. This dog was a big breed wimp. A small hedgehog used to get in the garage and eat all its food and the dog was deathly afraid of the hedgehog and would rather starve then challenge it. When he took it for airship though the shipping guys took one look at the size and said-My God are you shipping Cujo?
