Not who you want or who you think they SHOULD hire. Based on the back and forth, the news reports, the podcasts, etc. over the past couple weeks, has your assumption about who is "most likely" changed?
Mine probably hasn't changed a ton, but I'd think (1) May and (2) Cronin are near the top. I keep hearing (3) Drew's name and I get why he would make sense; I just thought I'd heard he was "difficult" in some respects and maybe not well-regarded in some coaching circles (e.g., the Hanner Perea type stuff). I haven't heard (4) Otzelberger's name much recently, but there are rumors that his latest buy-out isn't as high as reported. (5) McCollum might be a great one and I'd think he'd still surely be on my list of likelies, but probably pretty far down that short-ish list because he's just not been outside DII long enough. (6) Pat Kelsey checks a lot of boxes on paper even if he's not high on the likely list. (7) Tommy Lloyd would probably be on there. (8) McCasland and (9) Byington might be even lower, even though I'm sure they're really good coaches. (10) Chris Collins would do a great job, I bet, and I think he's got a respectability factor that IU types might like if their prime targets fall through.
Brad Stevens is the unlikely wild card.
That's my 10 + 1.
