I did read the post. Some guy says ‘he gone’ and that’s the commitment?Maybe read the post I was reacting to. We’ve lost him.

Totally agree. Cal was about CalI think he will. He did well at BYU and he'll be able to attract a little higher caliber player to UK with their resources and reputation. He's not slick and stylish - he's just a good coach. I think they'll do very well - they'll just take a different route to their success then they have in the past.
Nobody knows anything about this one or Mullins. It's just cool for some to post silliness.I did read the post. Some guy says ‘he gone’ and that’s the commitment?
wish I could believe you. He picked up another CB for UConn and no one is pointing at IU. I think this ship has sailed.Nobody knows anything about this one or Mullins. It's just cool for some to post silliness.
No reason to believe me, I have no idea about either. And I have not spent time to understand what goes into the magic of "crystal balls". Perhaps an antibiotic would help?wish I could believe you. He picked up another CB for UConn and no one is pointing at IU. I think this ship has sailed.
Trilly posted a UCONN gif on Twitter. It's over.No reason to believe me, I have no idea about either. And I have not spent time to understand what goes into the magic of "crystal balls". Perhaps an antibiotic would help?
I'd say it's definitely Reibe, if not it's even worse news for us.....
Yeah, just not sure who all they’re recruiting that’s committing today.I'd say it's definitely Reibe, if not it's even worse news for us.....
Valid questions.I'm really having a hard time understanding exactly what our very highly-paid assistants really do. They were hyped as crack recruiters. That's clearly not true and obvious to all at this point. They certainly aren't gameday strategists or technicians. Are they good in drills at practice? Our fundamentals and smart play have been lacking too, so I'm starting to wonder if they all are simply in charge of cigars and wine?
The comp the Sleeper guy used (Greg) was Donovan Clingan coming out of high school with a jumper. That's pretty high praise. I don't recall where Clingan was rated, but I think a 4 or 5 star.Never really thought we were a major player for Reibe. Maybe we were? Just didn't feel like we were, to me.
This one isn't a huge loss. Mullins is a bigger deal, for a number of reasons.
We'll get a portal big that will be better than Reibe, in pretty much every way, I'm sure. If he surprises, and picks IU, I still hope we get a portal big, that would make a bigger impact next year than he would.
No one, and I repeat no one has ever called Morton a shooter--last year he was 23% overall and 21% from 3. They will miss his D, but he was in no way shape of form a shooter. The only "shooter" he was better than from 3 on the IU roster last year was Anthony Walker. He was 5% worse than GalloAveraged 10 minutes a game across 37 games. That is 25% of the game if you aren’t a big math guy. Plus he averaged 25+ minutes the year before, so yeah I would say that he was a contributor for the program. Did he lose minutes? Yes. But losing a shooter that played 25% in the season he contributed least is not inconsequential given his experience through some of the better years in Purdue history. So yes they lost 2 contributors.
I wasn't following that either. I finally assumed he was talking about Gillis, and just kind of cross talked between the 2. Gillis I thought was a pretty decent 3 pt (set) shooter. Morton, I always hoped would shoot. No one, and I repeat no one has ever called Morton a shooter--last year he was 23% overall and 21% from 3. kansas state ?!Mgbakos mom called Woody and Tuckers dad called Woody. Two pretty miraculous 5☆ recruitments. Reneau followed JHS. JHS was a nice get and I think he was ranked in the 20's. We aren't one of those schools yet. We shouldn't lose Mullins, but we should recruit in circles that our name has some cache'. We're on par right now with Kansas State. Reach out, be visible, and make connections but land some bedrock players.
Seems like everyone already expects Mullins to go to UConn and they know that shifts things to the portal, which there is generally some confidence in after last spring.UCONN
September 20th we may have had a recruiting visit for Hurley. Reibe and Mullins only co-visit. Things are going to get hateful around here next week.
I think it sounds like where he's headed, but still think we have a shot at that one. Just based on guessing, but I thought Reibe was very unlikely, and it sounds like Kansas may have even been his second choice, but with all the noise I thought it was over 90% he was going to UConn. I'd rate Mullins 65/35% as I think IU is a draw and there seems to have been a preference to play closer to home. Still a week... Woody's got some work to do!Seems like everyone already expects Mullins to go to UConn and they know that shifts things to the portal, which there is generally some confidence in after last spring.
Yea. When I see no positive chatter from any of the usual sources on Mullins it seems grim.I think it sounds like where he's headed, but still think we have a shot at that one. Ha touché… I always viewed him as a three and D guy, but I admittedly would just as well be kicked in the shins than watch Purdue on a consistent basis. My very poor assessment aside, he was still a guy that operated as a valuable depth piece of the last few years. No one, and I repeat no one has ever called Morton a shooter--last year he was 23% overall and 21% from 3. Uh oh. Not convinced Woody loves that word.I think it sounds like where he's headed, but still think we have a shot at that one. If Mullins also calls for UConn, an argument could be made that Woody is Hurley’s best closer.UCONN

That would be a weird coincidence...dynamic...whatever you want to call it. On the flip side, if Hurley is everyone's gold standard right now, then it means Woody's judgement on the types of players he's going after is pretty sound. Just needs to close a few of them now.If Mullins also calls for UConn, an argument could be made that Woody is Hurley’s best closer.
I see it as just the opposite. Why would you target players that UCONN is also recruiting as you probably can't beat them? We should be going after players that fit our system who we believe we have a good chance to land. That would be a weird coincidence...dynamic...whatever you want to call it. Very Purdue ish of you.I see it as just the opposite. Why would you target players that UCONN is also recruiting as you probably can't beat them? We should be going after players that fit our system who we believe we have a good chance to land.
We know the issue. It's up to Dolson and the BOT to fix it.Very Purdue ish of you.
IU shouldn't worry about who else would target the guys they want. They should establish a list of who they want, recruit them ernestly, and react accordingly when they do or don't get them. If UConn, or Kentucky, or UNC, or whoever else is also recruiting them, or starts recruiting them afterwards (Mullins as an example)...obviously IU shouldn't just not recruit those players, or stop recruiting those players.
Figure out why they've lost a couple to UConn, and if the reason is fixable, AND something they're willing to fix...fix it.
System is an issue. Our old system hasn’t yielded good results, and it seems to have been an issue with some recruits. The staff is signaling changes/fixes coming this year, not what you want in year 4, but is what it is.I see it as just the opposite. Why would you target players that UCONN is also recruiting as you probably can't beat them? We should be going after players that fit our system who we believe we have a good chance to land.
