For those who didn't watch the video, here's some more highlights from Risley's Zoom call with DeVries:
1. Devries pulled all the players together in two different ZOOM calls (approximately 40 players attended Steve Risley's Zoom call).
2. Offensively, he wants to start with a pressure defense, push the ball after turnovers/rebounds, but not as much off of makes.
3. Referred to the offense as a Random Motion, no set plays
4. He expects bigs to shoot 3s (trailing)
5. Wants guards to screen each other at top and use penetration lanes
6. Doesn't want shooters to stay in a spot...too easy to guard
7. Doesn't want to become a 3-point offense, wants a mix with a lot of penetration (to draw more fouls) and to dish back out
8. Defensively, DeVries expects fouls; will be more pissed with a player that that 0 fouls than a player with 4 fouls (though doesn't want stupid fouls)
9. Wants a gritty and grimy defense (good fouls are okay all night long)....every loose ball is ours and if we don't get them, then we will practice getting them
10. Will go after every offensive and defensive rebound
11. Starters from other teams cost 1.5-3M (on average); the money is "stupid"
12. By the end of the week, we'll sign 4-5 more players
