Rating Big Ten Schools on Recruiting Appeal

Take this with a grain of salt. IU doesn't have...

tradition, but it does have one of the most beautiful campuses in the B1G. Dienhart is a puke and always rates IU low. In another rating of the most beautiful campuses, he didn't rate IU in the top 4.

Scout had our class at #13 in the BIG

That is the appeal that matters.

Do you work for Scout or something?

It's called an outlier. You keep picking that rating, ignoring that the others, including the most respected and current site we are on, have us in the middle of the pack, which is a nice accomplishment for us. Does anyone even read Scout anymore?

Re: Do you work for Scout or something?

Scout's rankings are heavily skewed to the higher rated recruits. all services are to a certain extent, but scout is the worst in that regard. They are the only service that does not differentiate 3 star players which are awarded 40 points whereas 4 star recruits get 120 points. Essentially a class with a couple of 4 star players and then is completely finished off with 2 star guys would end up finishing in the middle of the pack in the conference.

I love the setting as much as anyone but there are plenty of pretty campuses where the football team has tradition
While I have been a critic of some of the game day decisions you have to give CKW credit for bringing in some talent.
Lets hope it converts to Ws on the field.

I don't remember which coach said it but someone said once that a bunch of talented players makes a coaching staff look that much smarter. Wilson is growing into his position as head coach and having more talented players around him will only make him look better on game day.

Wueastion for turney3333.

Recruiting is not an exact science although that changing as time goes by and with few exceptions , The top recruiting schools generally select the highest recruited players. They entertain them in football camps and are well aware who are the top guys to pay attention to. These kids go up against the top invited kids and if they greatly impress the local coaches they will offer a schloarship to them also. Sometimes they hedge on the offereing until they know which ones are elligible. The schools that host those football camps usually have first dibbs on the most impressive talent and offer them ASAP. It maybe considered as not fair but that has been going on for quite a few generations,

Pffftttt..... any article on recruiting appeal that does not have

IU above the Illini and Northwestern, and even Iowa and Purdue, is a joke.

Illinois facilities, even with the upgrades, are abysmal. And the campus is uglier than Purdue's.

Wilson doesn't want to hear it, but IU's tailgating is unmatched. lnstead of complaining about how "we've never lost a tailgate", he needs to embrace that. And bring back the first-down march. He killed atmosphere when he insisted the band quit playing that - one of our best organic traditions. Or maybe he prefers the "Red" "White" stadium cheer.....

Re: Pffftttt..... any article on recruiting appeal that does not have

I think it was more of a timing issue with the first down march than anything. Hard to run a hurry up offense when the band is blaring. And if you really truly think it through it's a sad state of affairs when first downs are so few that when you get one it's such a celebratory event the band plays.
