I have questions about how Indiana's basketball coaching tripartite functions. It was my understanding that when Indiana hired Mike Woodson, Dane Fife and Thad Matta were an integral part of the package. My assumption was that Thad and Dane were brought in to help Woodson since he had never coached college ball. I also assumed that both Fife and Matta's job was to assist Woodson in both coaching strategies and recruiting, with Matta having the primary responsibility with recruiting. I'd be interested in anyone else who has a take in regard to how this system functions. Also, in the event that Woodson doesn't work out, is it a foregone conclusion that Matta and Fife will also leave if he Woodson is fired?
