How good is the advice in this video for let’s say children, geezers, wimps, and other normal people?

I'd be interested to hear opinions too. His advice seems pretty intuitive insomuch as situational awareness.

The most heartbreaking thing as a parent was when my kids had active shooter drills in school and were taught to run/hide/fight. Hearing your kindergartner talking about her plan with her friends to grab staplers and scissors and whatever to fight off a shooter is agonizing.

FWIW, his advice is spot on the advise I received during active shooter training at my firm a couple years ago (except the zig-zag running). We were also taught how to jam a gun by grabbing the gun slide - a last resort if you are in very close quarters, but one that could potentially work. They stressed that this should not be a primary or secondary tactic, as running from the situation is the number one technique when feasible.

The training was incredibly sobering, yet also empowering. I pray that I never have to use it.

Our firm provided active shooter training shortly after there was a mass shooting two blocks down the street in downtown Cincy. Three people were killed and two seriously wounded. I remember looking out my window and seeing police swarming the street in front of the Fifth Third Center building, taking up firing positions. Police were on the scene incredibly quickly and did an extraordinary job. As seen in the video at the link below, a Cincinnati police officer killed the shooter by firing through a plate glass window from quite some distance. She likely saved dozens of people, as the shooter had hundreds of rounds in his bag.

The advice he gives is sensible, but the key is your state of mind. Most people can't fight unless trained to do so; I would recommend Krav Maga as easy to learn and violent enough to do the job. The thing I was taught in the Marines was to run until you were in position to attack. The only point in this video I am concerned about is the "fight". He is right it is the third thing to do but most people are prepared or violent enough to take this step.
