Purdue Loses Exhibition

Purdue lost at Creighton. Creighton is expected to be a top 25 team but a loss is a loss.
Purdue lost last year to Arkansas on the road in an exhibition, and they did not even make the tournament. Creighton is good, have a lot of shooters, and AA big man. Purdue is super young, and to go on the road and compete is a positive. Purdue has some talent, Painter will get them there. Jackobson, Cox, Burgess and Harris are going to be very good! Purdue has the best guards in the conference.

Or maybe it’s as simple as Creighton had the audacity to actually guard Smith, and Loyer and TKR?

If they did, they didn’t do a good job as the three combined for over 70 points.

Also, painter did zero game planning for Creighton. Watched zero tape. Also ran out a lot of different lineups. He didn't cater to Creighton at all. He tinkered.

There was a lot to like. The center position was not one of them… (TKR was the 4) good news is they won’t see to many bigs as good as Kalkbrenner

I know this will fall on deaf ears but as written above, there was no attempt to gameplan... very obvious if one knows anything about basketball. Purdue played 11 guys in the first 8 minutes. There was no rotation to speak of the entire game. Creighton (like Arkansas last year) treated this as a game. Look... Purdue has a hole at the five. They have a ton of talent at the position but all need to find a role and get better.

You slobbering over Purdue is sickening.

Next time you should probably look at the box score! Smith and Loyer went 7 for 14 from three. Maybe you were thinking of IU guards. If IU guards get anywhere close (versus Tennessee) to what Loyer and Smith did on the road versus Creighton , IU might be able to compete.

I think whomever started this thread is the one obsessed - fair game to comment on a Purdue thread on this site I would argue - blame the poster
It was directed at one poster who is always over here trying to get IU fan approval.

Also, other teams are going to get discussed on an IUBB board.

It doesn't sound good if Porkchop played 11 players in 8 minutes and 3 players scored 70 points. Seems like in an exhibition you should have balanced scoring. Sounds like teams only need to stop one of those 3 to beat PU. That has been why I think they are not going to be really good.

Why do losers come here unless you are worried about what we will say about the Toiletmakers? IU may lose at Tennessee today or not. Either way, I won't run over to see what you idiots think.

It doesn’t sound bad. It sounds like Painter used the exhibition exactly what it should be used for. Experimentation and trying things you might not try in the season.

No, it sounds like he tried real hard to win the game and relied on 3 players. PU returns 2 projected starters with double figure scoring and 3 that averaged single digit scoring. Two of those three will need to step it up consistently.

As a comparison, all 5 projected IU starters averaged double figures where they played last year with a former starter coming off the bench as a double figure scorer. We learned from our football team that past production and experience matter. I believe it will matter in basketball.

He tried real hard. Ok. Not sure how you got this.

Porkchop and toiletmakers. That's high end
Anyone wanna bet on records or tourney seeds, further in the tourney etc?

IU is wiping the floor with the pig porkers.

@B_Town_Buford

Are you somehow related to Nevin Shapiro? role model?

I have other names besides Toiletmakers and much worse names for Porkchop. It just felt right today. At least we won our road exhibition game against a #12 team.

Maybe you can stop littering over here. You aren't going to earn our respect here.

You sound like you’re trying to talk yourself into that.

Painter is a moron if his staff didn't create some type of scouting report or a game plan. You are very wrong.

Look who's returned. Lmao. You've been noticeably absent on the football board. What happened?

Purdue treated it like a game last year as well. Edey was in foul trouble all of the first half. Arkansas beat you fair and square. Just like Creighton did...but without the foul trouble.

I’ve been there. Reading. Love seeing Iu be good and have game day while Purdue sucks. It’s perfect timing. Enjoy this.

Purdue was down double digits with around 5 minutes left. Creighton pulled their starters and was content with whatever outcome played out. Painter left his starters in including Braden Smith who played 37 minutes. Painter absolutely played to win and any Purdue fan who says otherwise is an idiot.

You were jawwing about how good Purdue was going to be. We were waiting for your excuses as too why every single thing you said was rainbows and unicorns about Purdue.....then you disappeared once it was obvious how wrong you were? Now you're over here on the bball board doing the same thing. 😄 🤣

Ha Oh yeah? What happens when Braden Smith doesn't score 30? Purdue loses by 15? There is plenty of reasons to worry, but convince yourself differently.
Probably won’t give up 90 when you prep for the opposing offense as well.

No. I was posting here within the past couple weeks. So if you are claiming I ran when Purdue got bad, then you missed about 6 weeks. I also talked about how Purdue would win 5-6. And defended why I thought that. Still stand by those reasons why I thought. Because it made sense. I was wrong. I said that as well. Everything I’ve said about the basketball team is also accurate. Difference also, basketball has a top 10 coach in the country that consistently wins.
