Purdue looking like us tonight…

Little bit of adversity and they’re folding like a tent.

Droppped 1st down turns to a punt.
Go ahead drive at half turns into a fumble. Bad PI gives PSU hope.
Purdue can’t tackle. TD.

Not gonna lie…enjoying it.
The pass interference for 15 yards….you saw who that was?

Us of last year, right? Or 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016....

Want to be careful about drawing too many conclusions based on a Week 1 performance but seems like maybe Purdue lacks some explosiveness at WR. Also thought O'Connell made some questionable decisions - going after Porter a lot, throwing into triple coverage, throwing back into the middle of the field on a roll-out. He got away with it but that won't last if he continues to push the envelope. Also if you are a Purdue fan it's discouraging to see your team fold and give the game away like that. They whipped Penn State most of the second half but then when it counted most they mismanaged the clock and let PSU zip right down the field for the game winning score. PSU's O in the second half didn't look that great but again it's week one so maybe it will come together for them as the season goes on.

It was apparent that replacing David Bell is no small task.

That kid they brought in from Iowa is something else though.
He definitely gave them a spark, didn’t he. But Bell was so good for them, and the drop off was clear. They also don’t have enough of a running game to eat clock, which is going to be a challenge. Thought they really left their defense hanging on the field too long last night.

I counted at least 2, maybe 3, balls that O’ Connell threw that should have been INTs. The first was where the Penn State DB jumped the route and the ball went through his hands for a Purdue completion.

Part of that is due to the back of PSU’s defense, They’re stout. But Moore and Bell were transformational receivers for them (hate how well they did with two Indiana kids that we never really had a shot to get), and no one i saw last night looks anywhere close to those two.

Just about how I saw it. Who in their right mind would continually pick on Porter after the 1st quarter. Big Q for me is why Jeffie didn't get in his ass about it. Porter is too dangerous to play "Gotcha" with. DUMB!

Not so. Porter was the best player. Without him PUke wins by 2+ TD's. Jones is good but Jr. Porter is sensational.
I have to be honest that I don't remember a lot about Porter from previous seasons, but he's outstanding.

His frame is so stupid built for a CB plus his athleticism. At 6'2" he's got a wingspan of a guy like 6'7". I swear his hands reach to his knees when he's standing straight up. Why you'd keep throwing at him is beyond me.

I wonder if he’s an Ed Reed kind of safety in the NFL? Big and physical, but with ball skills.

My view is that both PU and PSU r one dimensional teams. Neither has a running game, unless they can develop one in the next few weeks it could be an up & down season for both of them.
If IU has a running game this year, the key here is if, both the PU and PSU games could get very interesting.
