Again, how, exactly, is he incompetent? The athletic department was in the red (meaning losing money, which by our own standards the AD doesn't "borrow" taxpayer or tuition money, at least anymore). The football program is on the verge of top 25 level for the first time in as long as I can remember (if ever) despite playing in, by far, the toughest division in D1. The basketball program was destroyed when we hired Sampson (after being damaged severely the previous ~10 years). The athletic facilities are becoming top notch when they were extremely out of date and non-competitive when Glass took over (go look at home many recruits, especially football, mention the facility upgrades as a factor in committing). That is with a negative budget when he took over. All the sports programs, across the board, are trending up. This leaves me with the 4 reasons you are so butt hurt about Glass (and he did NOT hire Crean, fyi, since the Glass heaters love revisionist history): 1. You think it is normal for a college program to act like a professional one and fire a coach a year removed from winning 2 of 3 conference championships with an almost 10 million dollar buyout. (Which it either would have HAD to have been that way OR we would have had to not extend Crean after 2012, give him less than 3 years on his contract, and therefore make sure he couldn't recruit beyond the Senior class, as even the senior class coming in would be the 2nd year of the 3 he had left).
2. Getting rid of Wilson or not bringing in an expensive coach that wouldn't have come to a program that hasn't won a bowl game in 25+ years and at least recently, was the losingest major conference program in history? Maybe, like with basketball, some patience is needed to build from next to nothing? On paper, this looks like the best football team in years.
3. You have no patience and think, similar to in the pros, it's possible to remake a roster in <3 years. There is no free agency. There are no trades, and recruiting, especially in limited time and with a family base like you, does not always work the way you want. Players pick schools/coaches. Ir isn't a draft.
4. FG peed in your Cheerios? I'm not saying is was right of him to do it, but if he does it more than once, shouldn't you stop leaving your Cheerios unattended around him? At some point it is more your fault than his.
Anyway, I don't think the AD does the things you seem to think are his responsibilities. He has done a damn good job considering what he took over. Get over the butthurt and be a fan or else find someone else to root for. With your mindset, professional sports would probably be the best to follow. Rosters are easier to change. Salary caps help make sure quality players are at least somewhat divided to different teams, and most unsuccessful programs love changing coaches as soon as they have a bad season. Perfect for you to root for coaches/GM'S to get fired for no real reason! How great does that sound?! Maybe you can pretend you are Trump from the Apprentice so you can pretend you have the power you are craving and start screaming "You're fired!" when the program inevitably changes coaches every 2 to 3 years because no coach ever has time to build/establish a program! That once every 10-30 years they are competitive you might have to "cheer" for a new coach to be fired....I mean new team for a while, but with the way you want the program run, you won't have to worry about that for more than a year or two. Either way, have fun "enjoying" your new professional sports franchise fandom! Make sure you stay away from teams like the Spurs, Patriots, Steelers, etc. They like to win games. So, they don't give up on solid coaches 2 years in. Good luck! Wait....that would be the opposite of what your ideas would want...Hope they lose enough to fire their coach this year for you!
