I was encouraged by the second half we played yesterday. Durham is continuing to get better now that he's getting more minutes. Green played pretty solid. We just need to put a complete game together.

I don't disagree that we played pretty well the 2nd half......but I think we're starting to see that our upside isn't quite as high as some of us would like.

I've been someone who 'likes' Al and hasn't 'liked' DG because of the nature of how they both play.......but Al's limitations seem pretty glaring to me right now. I really thought Al looked physically small against that UM lineup. I think his lack of physical strength is a problem.....as some others have pointed out, he seems to get knocked off his balance frequently on D, and has problems finishing at the basket on O. I'm not trying to be snarky, but what exactly does he do 'very well'?

So what were your expectations for this year? Did you think this team would challenge for the big ten title and top 3 seed in the tournament. So far a 12-3 record is pretty much where I thought we would be and I would think most fans would think the same thing. Also Al and DG should be coming off the bench if we were totally healthy so that might be why they have not looked as well against other teams starters.

I was hoping Smith would break out to be a 12-15 ppg scorer. I don't know that I 'expected' that, but I was hopeful based on the end of last season.

And just prior to the season people were talking about Hunter being the 3rd best player on the team.

Had Smith broken out, and had Hunter played, and everything else was exactly as it is now, our ceiling would be much higher.

I really thought that Smith would average around 10 points and 5 rebs a game going into the season. I thought Green would develop a little more than he has and I really thought Fitzner would give us a little more. Saying that I still thought we would finish around 4th or 5th in the conference and maybe go to the sweet 16 and right now it still looks like that is a real possibility.

Aside from the Marquette game (where we came out of the locker room looking like world beaters) the team has been horrifically slow at the start of games and always seems to be in a hole 5 minutes in.

Kudos to CAM for realizing that JM and Romeo had to get back in the game with 2 fouls. No sense holding them for the second half if we go in the locker room down 25, which was where the game was heading.

Bench contribution is major concern. Mcbob and Fitz played combine 32 minutes and offered totals of 0-2 from field (Mcbob didn't even shoot with 22 minutes played), 2 rebounds (Fitz, a 6'10" player played 10 min but not one single rebound). 10 points from the bench yesterday and we have a chance, even with that terrible start to the game. Not sure if that's glass half full or half empty.

I thought you were done with the hoops board. Were you lying?

Michigan doesn't have anybody that Fitzner or McRoberts can guard. Teams like Iowa Nebraska Wisconsin probably do
