Really great to get a win. Many thought this game is the key to getting at least 7 wins.

Missed first half, but was very impressed with Scott’s between the tackles running, and hanging onto the ball. Forget running Scott wide - not good.

Hale, Westbrook, Wop not involved in second half. I know rain was bad, but odd that they were not used.

Why no Penix?

Go Hoosier! BSU will be a good challenge.

I’m on my way home from game. Brutal heavy rain. We really moved the ball well from the 20 to the 30 and then bogged down. Could have put this game away in the 3rd with the first drive of second half. Scott busts off a 50 yard run and then stall.
The defense isn’t pretty but they seem to have a knack at times for coming up with stops and just enough play to prevent some things. Now this could completely change but the dual threat quarterback did pose problems for us and I still say the linebackers are really lost most of the game.

Soaking wet... and I’m not going to voice to text anymore on my way home from this one. Will watch the replay again when I get home.

Good question about Penix...could be just saving him...could be he had a cold...could be anything. But I'm very happy we got through the game without him. He's got 3 more free games before redshirt gone. Like to see them move slow with this. He is #2...if called on he must play no matter how many games he's played in. But if Ramsey can remain unhurt...isn't it better NOT to use his redshirt? JUst beating a dead horse...vbg:rolleyes:

No doubt tough weather conditions. This is the type of game that previous Hoosier teams before CTA would have found a way to lose. A higher level of mental toughness is one of the things CTA has instilled with this program.
I would imagine that the conditions dictated that MP not play unless due to injury. To your point yes offense should have put up some points in the 2nd half. Should have not been this close of a game.
BSU looked solid against ND. We will need to take them seriously. Maybe rerun tape of them beating us in past years. Go Hoosiers...

LBS took a large step up from last week. Jones was pretty good. McFadden and Allen look good for freshmen.

LBs looked better. 98 Johnson was really good. Bryant was good at DE. Much better effort overall for sure

Part of my concern about this team, or maybe just the offense, is that we have lost the 2nd half in each of our first two games. Do that in the B10 and you will be 0 for nothing very quickly.

Old rule in statistics....one time an incident...two times a co-incident...but three times a trend. Next weeks game against a tough BSU team well tell what we really have.

Conditioning is about winning in the second half...not "holding on" to win in the second half. I'm still waiting to see something significant along those lines...maybe towards seasons end...but the 2nd half of a game is a microcosm of that scenario.

Something is wrong and the staff better find it and fix it before B10...and that's not an opinion...vbg

Returning from the game as well. Terrible conditions but glad I was there to,back this effort by the team and Tom Allen. Scott was huge and the oline played better for the most part. Yes the first drive of the second half we dominated until the 30. Could have put it away there but we didnt finish. Tough conditions but kicker kicked it too low on a few occasions. We didn't use Westbrook, Hale,Taylor or Whop in the second half which really was questionable by Debord? I'm seeing a pattern here from last year when Cobbs was never used enough. Hope we don't have another Tom Crean. The defense played better after the first drive. Lbs played better. I like Roof in there.
It's still hard to get a gage on if we are faster this year due to the weather and slippage. We need Ball to step up.
Seems like we aren't getting set on D before the snap many times? Late D calls from sideline led to confusion on occasion.
Inge has work cut out for him this week.
Great win in terrible conditions. Congrats to the team. We need this week and MSU looks beatable. Let's get better this week!!

You know, in general I thought Debord has been...well just okay...there have been some nice plays and calls. But for every creative one, I can show you a bonehead play or call or mismanaged time...he still has much to prove. Fans can be and are fickle...but no one cried when he left UT. Come on, man! Put 60 minutes together at least once.

We moved the ball well outside the 30 yard mark, but struggled inside the 30, but I think that has a lot to do with the weather. Normally, successful passing in compressed space inside the 30 is going to require good timing routes and throwing into tight coverage, which is difficult for anyone in bad weather. In bad weather, WRs will miss their timing because of footing and balls can slip a little out of the QBs hands. If you are throwing in bad weather, you only throw when you have more space, where it’s clear your guy is the only one who has a shot at the ball. You can overcome that with a great run game, and while I’m happy with our run game, it’s not one that can dominate

Regarding Scott, to me it looked like he learned a lot between last week and yesterday. Last week he was hitting the line where the play was supposed to go whether there was a hole there or not. Yesterday, it looked to me like he was taking his time and waiting for a gap to appear and then hitting the gap. If I'm right about that, that tells me a lot about both the kid and the coaching he's getting.

I don't think this was a good game to put in a QB that wasn't used to the wet conditions. I like Penix and want him to play, but this was a game better suited to leave Ramsey in.

For those of us that stayed the whole game, I can say the conditions in the first 3 quarters were wet, but bearable. The 4th quarter after the rain let up was actually worse because the wind picked up and made the wet clothing more uncomfortable. I had shoes full of water as soon as I walked for the first time across the concourse.

We drove the 2 hours home with our shoes and socks off with the heater on full blast. My son chose to take off his wet pants and cover up with the emergency blanket I keep in the SUV. Luckily the rain had mostly stopped and was nothing like the torrential rain we drove up in.

The 4th quarter chills we had were made worse because our offense had gone quiet in the second half and disappeared in the 4th quarter. Our D held up well except for early on when they didn't seem to realize their best weapon was the QB. I was disappointed in our pass rush, but maybe containing the QB was more important than rushing past the QB and giving him an open field to run.
