I LOVE the hire IF Archie fouls up three in the final seconds of a game. I'm a high school AD, and that's the FIRST question I ask when I interview boys/girls basketball coaches.
If they say "No, we hunker down and defend," then I say "Thanks for coming in, but we'll be looking at other candidates."
Crean never fouled up three, but got away with it. If we EVER lost an NCAA Tournament game in OT because our coach didn't foul, I would be beyond myself.
Archie's brother, Sean, never used to foul in these situations, and once got burned at Xavier (vs. Ohio State) for not fouling. However, Sean was one of the coaches who actually learned from his mistake and now fouls. Anybody know Archie's philosophy up three? PLEASE tell me he fouls.
It was actually refreshing to hear Florida coach Mike White say after the win vs. Wisconsin in OT last night "My player bailed me out. I should have fouled up three there. Live and learn." He admitted his mistake. But most coaches are stubborn.
I don't care if we hire the next John Wooden; I don't want anybody here who doesn't know basic "time and score." Always foul up three. Always!
Really looking forward to IU hoops again, now!

Only the Sith (and Tom Crean) deal in (basketball) absolutes.

You should research the Park Tudor coach situation...and change the priorities of your questiong for high school coaching positions...
and for about 1,000 other more important things than fouling up by three...

I actually think it's the right question to ask and I would not support hiring a guy that doesn't foul in college. I think HS could be different but I agree. We can sit here and list games upon games when a coach didn't foul and ended up giving up a 3.

Florida v wisc last night

Biggest whiff ever was Calipari and Memphis letting
chalmers having a three.

Obviously other questions to ask but that is more than a fair question.

I'd ask him if he had good drugs because the players don't want anything that's cut up and second rate.

News footage shown today that Archie is somewhat of a "clapper". Somebody really missed that.
