Petition for permanent IU script football helmets

No thanks. I liked them as part of the rotation, but not so much to keep them as the standard.

Went to my first game of season yesterday and I also loved the helmet. Looked very nice. However, I am still a block I guy, above all. I would be happy with these 2 and the state flag. Not a big fan of the white, the numbered or the metallic.

To me, the interlocking IU says IU more than any other logo. I like the chrome, too, and I'll have to agree the cursive writing looked good. It seems we have one for every week now, but so do the other teams.

For me it's a pretty simple matter of branding if the helmet makes it recognizable as IU. Interlocking IU? Yes. Stripes? Yes. Script? Yes. State emblem? Yes as it's always paired with interlocking IU. Numbers? No (for Alabama, it would). The tricky one is the block I. Yes on one hand as there is some mixed tradition but pretty indistinguishable design wise from Illinois now.

I liked them, but where I really want to see the script Indiana is in the end zone.

Didn't you, or perhaps Aruss/Not Fade Away photoshop an image of the script Indiana in the endzone a few years back?

I know there was a picture of it floating around somewhere.

I like the variety. Honestly, there isn't one I dislike. I would like us to get some cool uni's with a modern look.

How about that?

Anyone remember those black alternates Cam brought out back in the day? How about something similar:

Nope. Block I. Crimson helmet, two white stripes.

Everything else is weak and just marketing noise.

And while we're at it let's go back to the previous interlocking "IU" - the slightly offset, shaded logo - that is/was infinitely better that the present, thinner, weaker-looking university logo.

That logo looks so dated now. Very 90s. Current interlock is perfect.

I recall those black unis IU wore vs UK in '97. I recall also recall the 49-7 beat down Couch, Mumme and the cats gave IU that day.

That was me. I'll have to find it and post it, as well as send it to the athletic department, since the turf is due to be replaced next year.

I think the block I is OK because the Rose Bowl team wore it and it has a certain old school appeal, but everyone knows IU as just that, IU. So I think the U is an important part of the image.

This?

I just think it looks like something straight out of 1994, and that's where it should stay.

No, but that's better than the crap logo presently the standard and which was developed during the prior AD's reign. The superior logo had the block "I" in front of the "U". And I don't give a FF if it is from an earlier era. IMO, it's a far stronger look. It's like anything else, where there have been numerous uniform/logo changes. Sometimes they are subtle, but different people are going to prefer different, and prior, looks/versions.
