Telling an enemy you're going to keep Trump under control and will notify them if he's about to do anything is the very definition of treason.
The removal of his protection detail is a step too far. Someone (or some people) who are here will take a poke at one of these guys who have lost their protection. Even if not successful, that will cause a metric butt load of chaos. The ramifications would be real, in addition to the political fallout.

It’s primarily the judiciary that will need to provide the guardrails. The federal courts are going to be very busy into 2029. Some of his shit will go all the way up. Hopefully Roberts and Barrett come through more often than not.
You may have already answered this but do you think Milley should have been punished for that?
The President could have fired him. I can think of no article of the UCMJ that he could have been charged and convicted of violating.
