Pete Hegseth Secretary of Defense

So, we listened to this entire farce on the 9-hour drive to Georgia today. Obviously didn’t get the visuals, but based on what we could hear, Hegseth won the day. But, my God, the Dems on the committee totally soiled themselves. From Gillibrand to Warren to Kaine to the uber-loon from Hawaii the left totally embarrassed themselves.

Are these people insane? I’ll gladly and readily admit I hate leftist politicians but what I heard today was an embarrassment. I felt embarrassed that my country puts politicians such as this in positions of power.

The best laugh we had was when some senator stated that Hegseth didn’t have the experience of managing an organization with 3,000,000 “employees.” Who has?

I had some reservations about Hegseth, but after today he has my vote. The Pentagon needs to be shaken up. If anything, building back the Navy’s strength will happen. And the troops will be energized. He won’t get any Dem votes, except maybe Fetterman’s, but he’ll get every GOP vote.
I think these performances are off putting to independents and moderates. Yeah, both sides do it, but the Ds, IMO, need to show those voters that they hear them and want to move away from the nutty progressive issues. Yesterday’s hearing did not accomplish that.

Lol I woke up a couple days ago and my elbow looked like popeye’s. Craziest shit ever. Just the elbow. Apparently my bursa sac blew

That's tough.

Never happened to me, but had a buddy that it did and he said it hurt like a mother.

It didn't hurt anymore after a night at the bar.

The senators harp about qualifications and then equate qualifications with experience. They are not the same thing. Having sat in a chair, or being in a room with people does not touch qualifications.

Speaking of qualifications Duckworth is thoroughly unqualified to ask questions about where to go to lunch let alone examine a candidate for an important public office. The hearing yesterday was a typical hearing, full of bombast, theater, and smuggary and pitifully short on substance.

I have my doubts about Hegseth,, and while I give him high marks for demeanor, I heard no substance to move the needle either direction.

Are you dumb enough to think that article will change someone’s mind?
Wasn't my intent. You're not pretending you're stupid, are you? You are a moonbat pretending to be a MAGA wingnut. Being stupid is why you're not fooling anyone.

I don't know, I shouldn't have said it sunk. It's been decades since I heard the story. I will ask again.
S. Korea was not a cush assignment. From what I heard, it was as close to war as you could get without actually being in a war.

My roommate in language school was a Korean linguist.

I’ve read it now. None of that speaks to the impact Hegseth would have on the defense of the United States. It’s all about personal behavior which is fraught with charges and denials which is really a side show.

A question like “Mr Hegseth, if you know President Trump is about to make a serious military blunder, e.g. Afghanistan, what should be your role in advising the President to alter his plan? If the President refused, then what?” would have been revealing and important.

Nobody asked this kind of question, focusing instead on stupid irrelevancies.

What did you intend for us to take from this link?

As the ONLY qualification for serving as SecDef is to be a citizen, as was pointed out, everything else is subjective.
The gist of Hegseth's pov is that women have no business in combat arms. Woke ideology has no place in the military. DIE has no place in the military. At the highest headcount, the US had somewhere around 450k+ military in country, with somewhere around 60k actual combat troops. It takes 7-8 non-combatants to support 1 rifleman in a line unit. There are plenty of roles that young women can fill.
They don't belong anywhere near the point of the spear...

And it’s not just about physical standards. Men and women be ****in, you can’t have that drama on a deployment. You could say they should be more responsible; when POTUS holds themselves to that standard then we can ask it of combat arms units.

Also, what does it say about the moral deterioration of our country when we are willing to send mothers, daughters and wives to die or be taken POW. Disgusting.
