I doubt there will be a confirmation hearing if there is fire to go along with the smoke. Some Republicans Senators are expressing doubts about voting for him and he can’t lose more than three. If the Trump transition team would sign the transition documents the FBI can get started on their background investigations and get to the fires if they exist.

Good, but unless something has changed in the last 24 hours, the FBI can't do background checks on him because the Trump transition team hasn't signed the transition paperwork that would allow that, among many other things. Trump's team has also said they don't want the FBI to do background checks on his nominees. It's a mistake.
