Pete Hegseth Secretary of Defense

It'll never come to a vote. Just like with Gaetz. They'll be told behind the scenes he doesn't have the votes and he'll withdrawal. Trump obviously already looking for a replacement.
Probably true and definitely sad for Trump’s plans. Doesn’t change the fact that so many Republicans are so easily swayed by these dirty smear tactics. Weakness personified. As far as the uniparty Senators go…they represent everything that is wrong about our elected leaders.

All these politicians seems to be working overtime to make sure the status quo remains intact. Sure sucks for US citizens that crave change.

Y’all are so full of shit. Both dems and republicans here. This is a smear campaign against every one of Trump’s picks. Hegseth drops out they move on to Tulsi, RFKjr and Kash with similar smears. Time to take a stand and support Trump’s picks across the finish line. Toughen up buttercups. Don’t allow them to propagandize you into weakness.
Trump will pull the nomination if Hegseth doesn’t. He’s already considering DeSantis and Ernst as a replacement for Hegseth.

The other three you listed are iffy for confirmation as well. Rightfully so.

Gaetz dropped out because of “propaganda?”

You’re ignoring facts that make you feel uncomfortable.

Was Hegseth’s mom in on the smear campaign?

He’s not f****** leaving.

Mom sends emotional email during difficult time back in 2018. Even if some of the claims are true, can’t a person change? Redeem themselves? You think current politicians don’t have similar or worse skeletons? This is ridiculous. And the “facts” don’t make me uncomfortable at all. Conservative weakness does though. Very uncomfortable.

They answer to their constituents. This board is a reflection of that. If their constituents are as weak and easily swayed by the smear campaigns…well it’s not what conservatives should want. Trump was elected because the majority of US citizens want change. For Hegseth, that means to help us get out of the forever wars. To get woke out of the military. Etc. People don’t want status quo. And if that’s what these 10 Senators force. They’ll lose their seat next time around.
SecDefs don’t do foreign policy. That’s State’s job. You’re shit out of luck if you think Hegseth could “get out of the forever wars.”

I agree with standing firm in the face of smear campaigns. You won't find a bigger Kavanaugh defender than myself and I thought Trump sticking by him when a lot of Republican presidents would have folded was one of the best moments of his Presidency.

The rape allegation against Hegseth also seems entirely bogus to me. But even he grants that he was heavily intoxicated at the time, and now more rumors about him being a drunkard have followed on it's heels. We don't need a drunk at DoD. Couple that with he's never had administrative duties anywhere close to this scale while DeSantis has been an excellent administrator of the third largest state in the country. And I don't think DeSantis wants forever wars or a woke military either.

He's a better choice if what you're after is actual DoD reform and not just a flaming middle finger.

You don’t want an independent Congress. You don’t want the checks and balances that Congress is supposed to do WRT the President and Executive Branch. You want a Congress that rubber stamps everything the President wants. You want a de facto dictatorship. Unquestioned faith in Trump is not a healthy thing, and you’ve got it bad.

I don’t want the status quo. It’s time for change brother. Get on board.

Didn't you post the same thing about Gaetz.... Less than 24 hours before he dropped out?
Ernst has been pushing for the job badly. She was at Maralago last week kissing the ring. Her Senate colleagues were backing her.

I think the Desantis rumor was just a smokescreen and Trump saying that if Pete doesn’t make it then it definitely won’t be Ernst. Seems to have worked.

I want change. Lots of change. Get on board brother.
Wanting change and effectuating change are two different things. If he staffs the administration based solely on the extent of that appointees desire for change they're going to run into a lot of head winds. How about people who share that desire for change with a track record of implementing change across large organizations?

Hegseth would get chewed up and spit out by the Pentagon. He ran a non-profit with $15 million in revenue, and by all accounts ran it pretty poorly. That's a pretty massive leap to taking on a trillion dollar budget.

Yeah, because the Pentagon is a well oiled machine.

Or, people that understand he’s a fictional character in a fictional story think it’s a funny line.😂😂. Your butthurt runs so deep, will you ever recover?
Your multiple aggrieved posts to/about Uncle Mark are the epitome of the butthurt genre, so excuse me if I chuckle at your lack of self-awareness.

It’s simple, just copy and paste this into your next post: I want a Trump dictatorship.

It’s what you’re advocating for. Own it.
There is a lot of room between change and a Trump dictatorship.

With more than two thirds of the country thinking we are on the wrong track, do you really wanna exclude the military from that statistic? Given the Afghanistan withdrawal chaos, the blockade of the Suez Canal by a bunch of third world goat herders, and the ongoing recruitment and manpower problems, I think the military needs new perspectives.
