Pete Hegseth Secretary of Defense

What it tells you is that there is not a single high ranking military official that Trump trusts.

Most Sec Defs don't come from the military, so that's not much of an argument. In fact, by law they can't even have been in military in the prior 7 years. Biden and Trump admins had to get waivers for theirs. The position is supposed to be a civilian one for a reason.

Just that he's a Fox News host and has a lot of time in the field.

While I agree with the sentiment of clearning out the Woke from the military, the Sec of Defense is more of an administrative job.

But I guess we'll see. Pete is a Princeton grad, so he's no dummy.
Pete will be solid to bring back true leadership, without kneeling to the noise.
If he fails at that, .... He won't fail at that.

How so?

Unexpected and surprising but why ridiculous? A white male with degrees from Princeton and Harvard means something. .

Because he has absolutely zero experience in the defense industry (or any industry beyond media) outside of being an infantry officer in the National Guard.

The DOD is the one of the largest organizations on the planet and this guy has absolutely no background of being in a leadership position anywhere. It's like McDonald's hiring a former store manager to be the next global CEO.

That’s correct. The SDEF’s job seems to be two big things, dealing with Congress and budgets and dealing with contractors and procurement. Hegseth has no experience with either, but if he is a good leader, that what staff is for. Some SECDEF’s have played different rolls in strategy. Given the total Afghanistan administration fvck up, i think Hegseth would be an improvement.

Being an outsider could be an asset. But yeah, I agree his experience is atypical.

Run out of service? Where did that come from? He’s still in the Army National Guard as a Major.
“Hegseth has said he left the military in 2021 after being sidelined for his political and religious views by an Army that didn't want him anymore.

‘The feeling was mutual - I didn't want this Army anymore either," Hegseth said in his book "The War on Warriors: Behind the Betrayal of the Men Who Keep Us Free."’

Yep. Hegseth is an outspoken conservative and he holds two Ivy League degrees. Life is complicated. Ya gotta think your way through it.
:)

Life is complicated is a difficult thing to say about a group who sees it is stark black and white. With no gray, there aren't complications. Pretty much the theme of modern conservatism is there is only black and white.
